AEGIS weapon system - Whats it for? |
|
Anyone know what the AEGIS weapon system is for and how to use it
I presume this is only for Capital class ships (M1 & M2 only) with a LOT of firepower to control At what level does it become worth buying this and for which ships Thoughts anyone? Ta! Susanna ~~~~~~

If i recall correctly the AEGIS weapon system gives your turrets much more accuracy, so it'd be kind of wasted on anything lesser than a M6.
Titans and other M2 - M1 classes with PPCs are a good choice to give this to.

Read the XML reame that comes with the bonus pack that includes it, it holds more details than I can remember and I have a good memory.
Here are some features: Target prioritization Automatic weapon selection Area effect weapon avoidance when noncombatants are in range Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) Missile Defense Fire at full speed (AI usually does not) Maximize Captures Missile Defense Missile Assault Keep in mind that you have to find and hire gunnery crew for all your turrets to be able to use this. Also, there's a script over at the egosoft forums that allows docked ships to teleport in and out of a capital ship instead of lining up at the docking bay which is a liability during combat and near impossibe while moving. Means all your fighters get out fast and can get back in quickly if damaged.

I forgot: as a balance to the quick launch ships, all ships using it must be equipped with a transporter device.

Woo...
This is a whole subject in itself! I don't have gunner crews on any of my 3 destroyer Class M2's so I suspect the AEGIS system on them is not fully operational then I'll go look for that transporter device script! I keep transporter devices on all my M3 fighter and above ships so I assume thats not a problem I'd have hit yet. So next question - where and how do I hire gunnery crews for my M2 ships This is really helpful! Really Big Thanks! S x

Providing you are patched to 1.4 and have installed the latest bonus patch which you really -really- should have then you can find gunnery crews being transported by TP vessels, so if you see a TP, scan it and if it has passengers in its cargo then it's a crew ship. You should then follow it till it docks at a trading station, dock and their will be a "product" for buying the crew, it's only a few credits but once hired, you pay them by the hour, more when they're active but if you keep them unactive for too long they will leave.
It'll take a while to fully man a capital ship as the "crew ships" will usually only let you hire a few at a time. You should really check out the egosoft forums, their is a massive fanbase over there and all questions get answered pretty quickly.

We're talking about X2. If i recall correctly, the AEGIS weapon system is sold in Argon Prime at the equipment dock.

Thanks for the info. I've been to the Argon Prime Equipment Dock probably a thousand times never remember seeing it but then up until a few days ago i never knew it existed lol. Maybe you have to be a certain level/Part of the game before it shows up? Haven't been there "in person" in a while I'll check it out. Thanks again.

lol well did some digging and found out that 1.4 wasn't the latest patch after all but that there was one after it they added the "bonus" material..a "patch" that I didn't (until about 20 minutes ago lol) have. Thanks for your answers and patience...I feel stupid lol.
