Problems with internet! |
|
I f--ked up my computer, and had to reinstall the OS, I had Windows Media Center 2005 SP3, however, I didn't have the installation discs, and had to get them from someone else, however, all they had was Windows XP Professional SP1. I installed it on the computer, after formatting the Hard Drive, in case of any viruses that needed to go, and my computer was able to start up again.
However, that's basically ALL it can do. I installed Battlefield 2142 to see if I could get that running, and it starts up a black full screen, then exits. I tried to connect to the internet, and can get maybe 30 seconds on a wireless network, but only after I reboot my computer. It won't even recognize when I plug an ethernet cable in to the computer, though the computer's hardware recognizes that I do(a small green light activates next to the ethernet jack when I plug it in), and moving any window around the screen has serious quarter of a second lag, though exploring the window is fast, as is minimizing and maximizing it. So what happened? Bad install? I tried to connect to the internet for an SP upgrade, but as I said, I can't get to it. Any ideas? ------------------- ![]()

Ah these are easy questions to enter
1. The reason it's laggy is because you need to install your graphics card drivers. Should be on nvidia/AMDs site, or your motherboards site if it's integrated. 2. You also need to install the drivers for your ethernet card, whether it is integrated or not IDK. If it is part of your motherboard, go to the manufacturers website and find your model, then go to drivers and you will find it. So you might want to head over to a friends house, or use another computer in your house, and download what you need to put onto the computer. Once you get your ethernet card working, things will be easier. ------------------- Asus P5k-E, C2D E8400, 2GB GSKILL RAM, XFX HD4890 1GB, 1.5TB HDD, 22" WSXGA LCD Monitor

Sorry for the double post;
I upgraded my graphics card drivers, it's an Nvidia 8600 GT, I installed the latest Windows XP drivers for it. Well, it stopped the lag, but now the color profile is set to 4 and I can't raise that, and the maximum monitor size is 800 x 600, it was set to 1074 x 1280 before the upgrade. So what gives? Monitor drivers? I am also having problems tracking down the drivers for my motherboard, it's found on the computer eMachines Desktop T6544 The ethernet is integrated, and I can't seem to find the damn drivers for anything other than the video card... any help would be appreciated! ------------------- ![]()

On that page you linked, talk to chat support or email them and ask where you can find a link to the drivers.
