No Wireless Device |
|
Right, so my laptop inst picking up any wireless signals, it used to but it suddenly stopped detecting them, when I press the wireless button on my laptop, it normally switches the wireless device (that picks up the signal) on or off, but instead it says 'No Wireless Device'
I have all recent updates, so I dont know whats up. FYI, im using my laptop wired straight up to the modem. ------------------- ![]()

Eh?
I don't understand. If you have it "wired straight up to the modem" then surely it would be receiving your internet signal through the cable, not wirelessly? So what wireless signal are you failing to receive? -------------------

I have it wired to the modem because its not picking up wireless from my wireless router anymore, but it used to. thats why i'm here. >>

Ahh, ok. I'd assumed you were just on a different PC or something like that.
So this is one of those built in wireless devices? I'm afraid I know bugger all about those. No doubt hiigaran or another tech genius will show up soon though. -------------------

how long ago did this start happening? could you think of anything you might have done to make it stop working?new program? uninstallation of a program? windows update perhaps? have you tried reinstalling the drivers for it? what happens if you remove the ethernet cabled before turning on the wireless? what operating system are you running? can you post a screenshot of your running services? can you post a screenshot of your device manager window?

quote hiigaranNot sure, it was one of those press-start-to-find-you-have-one updates. So I just installed it, it was only 1 update anyway. ------------------- ![]()

youd be surprised at how many times system restore does not work. especially with internet related issues. thats because its not always related to the things backed up by system restore.

It is good to use register anti virus or spyware if our use of internet is too high. our more that 90% problems can be solved by using it.

am i the only one who didnt understand his english?
nothing was said about viruses, and not everything is related to viruses, especially not 90 percent of it. i hate it when people relate every problem to viruses. i dont use an anti virus program at all, and look at my computer. its perfect (for a 5 year old computer). well while were on that topic, theres also spyware which you need to look out for. spybot is the perfect program for it. and registered anti viruses suck balls. free ones are the best because they do the same thing for free. -------------------
