I have recently built my first computer from separately bought parts. I put it all together and its been working great... runs my games max graphics no problems... until this very frustrating problem started happening.

No matter what Im doing, whether it be surfing the web or raiding my computer will just freeze for anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes forcing me to just stop what Im doing and wait for the computer to decide to starting working again. Some if not all of the programs I have up stop "responding". I have even had windows task manager say "not responding". On my windows sidebar I have a CPU usage meter graph thing and whenever this happens it drops down to 1% usage, the task manager says the same thing. I can still move my mouse and the clock still ticks by.

I can go hours without any problems then BAM the freeze thing happens... other times it happens within seconds of booting up. Its very very very very very annoying.

I have updated all the drivers I can find and it hasn't seemed to make any difference and I cant seem to find anyone else to has the same problem or how to fix it. Im not even sure if this is the correct fub-forum to post it haha.

Any help would me greatly appreciated, thanks.

Something that you can turn off that might help is the OS file indexing. I've seen problems on different machines where the file indexing would take priority and "freeze" things that you are doing. Google the way to disable it.

Thanks for the response, but that didn't fix the problem. Any other ideas?

I'm gonna ask the usual. Have you ran a virus or spyware scan?

I just did, and still nothing.
