Windows Vista Account Permissions Problem |
|
All the accounts on my machine are Administrators yet none are able to are uninstall Windows Live Installer for some reason. Any help?
I'm trying to get rid of WLI so I can get rid of Messenger and try to reinstall that. I don't want to reformat my machine or anything like that either... ------------------- ![]()

Unless you are uninstalling it from the control panel, you'll have to right click on the uninstaller and select 'Run as Administrator' from the context menu.
This is because of UAC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control If you are uninstalling from control panel, then I'm not sure what you need to do.

WLI doesn't have an uninstaller so it has to be done through the control panel. As for UAC, I have that turned off/disabled. I managed to get my Messenger updated as well.

Is Windows Live Installer the installer that installs all of the Windows Live products? If so, just uninstall the products you installed directly.

Doing that provided another error about account permissions though
(not going to attempt to uninstall Messenger at this point because I just got it working again) Other things also won't install like the Zune software which keeps mentioning a 'Watson' package and all MS provided links do not help. ------------------- ![]()

The first thing that comes to mind there is Dr. Watson, which is a tool by Microsoft to fix errors in programs.
This might come in handy ------------------- ![]()

I have Vista, the page you linked says it supports only Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Edition.

I saw that earlier, but forgot to mention it... Dr. Watson is still present in XP, Vista and 7, so still valid.
