re: General Discussion

Unlucky but I don't think he would have been to good a signing, York have a player, simon Friend who played in an NRL reserve side last year and he's great in NL2 but I don't know if he would cut in in super league although Salfrod were interested earlier this season.

I don't think this is a huge loss for Widnes.

Yeah Ill agree with you there, but im not really bothered about that, its just the fact that the board have announced a signing without knowing that he will definitely be coming.

Yeah I know what you mean, they should have said, signing was complete subject to a work permit or whatever went wrong, why couldn't he get one? There are Fijians in RL in England (there's one at York although his job is at Norwich Union).

Well in SL, its full time so you have to be playing. In NL2 its part time, so players have jobs as well as playing. I think because he hasnt played that many games for Parramatta, a Visa was refused. Widnes were advised prior to announcing the signing that a Visda wouldnt be a problem, but when Kativerata tried to fly over here, he was refused a Visa.

I dont think they should say they have signed him subject to a visa, they should see if theyve got the Visa first. Im really annoyed at the moment, particularly as the Widnes board rejected the opportunity to sign Michael De Vere when his first choice was Widnes

For all you NRL footy fans out there. Channel 9 is going to broadcast all the finals matches free to air. That means you wont miss a single game Great hey?

A good buy for Huddersfield, they are building a pretty handy team for next year, having already signed Michael De Vere and Drew (not sure what his first name is)

Neither do I, why don't the BBC buy the rights to any decent sports, I tell you in a few years time all we'll have is international tiddlywinks, the world cup of plucking eyebrows and Rugby Union, s'not fair on people that don't have sky.

Exactly. What was on at the weekend? The Table Tennis Olympic Qualifying tournament

They used to have RL on ITV all the time, coz my dads got a load of tapes of Widnes matches from the 90s. That was obviously before the SL era and the SKY era. Damn Rupert Murdoch

lol! thats so funny, im the hurricane. Sadly though, its true. Its like this all over the world really. The only sport which television channels wish to air, is football, football and more football. Why? Because they feel its the only popular sport in the world. Nothing else matters.. Its a lame excuse, cause rugby league is popular but nobody wishes to air it to television because the broadcasters feel its not worth it!confused

re: General Discussion

Ronaldo, that Fijian was refused a HOLIDAY visa so he could play for the rest of the season and then go back home!!! If he was planning to live here and applied for a perminent visa then he might have got one!!! With regards to the De Vere issue, its just that widnes dont have the money!!!

re: General Discussion

This in from nrl.com.

Bronco bash
A score of 30 points against the Sharks will give Brisbane a total of 10,000 points in premiership football. Since joining the premiership in 1988, the Broncos have accumulated 9,970 points from 413 games, an average score of 24 points per game. The Broncos are poised to reach the milestone in faster time and in fewer games than any club in history. The previous record was held by Canberra, who reached 10,000 points in 466 games in their 19th season.

Do you reckon Brisbane can rack up 30 points against the Sharks this saturday night? Why or why not? I think Brisbane have too much power over the struggling Sharks and I think Brisbane will score 30 points. Easily

It's not football thats the problem if they showed that on normal TV that would be great but no SKY has that too as well as Rugby league, Cricket, Speedway, NBA, NFL . The only decent events BBC's sports shows regulary are, none. They show horse racing all the time, and thats about it. They occasionaly have things like Wimbledon Tennis or a half decent athletics event or a major snooker tournament but all other tennis tournaments and snooker tournaments are on sky, people who don't pay for TV get nothing, except f*cking gardening shows and DIY, it takes the p!ss really but what can you do?

Oh and I think the Broncos will be to good for the Shark and make 30 I think a last minute try or something just to be dramatic.
