Do not buy this game until after Christmas. It is almost a certainty that the price will crash, as it did with Quantum Redshift. I'm an enormous fan of the genre but very few on the Xbox are, so prices on futuristic races come down quickly (ala 'Quantum Redshift', which soon was had for a fifth of its original price).

That's certainly a way to kill off a genre. If everyone waited for games to drop down to $10, half the developers would go out of business.

uhhh . . . not exactly just more like I spent my money on too much DOAX stuff and I have to be a wise consumer . . . let's face the truth a bit though . . . if I know a game is going to drop a bit in price I'm going to wait . . . that's why I shop at Ross as opposed to department stores . . . same merchandise better price . . . it's a fact of life that not everybody can afford everything . . .that's another reason i buy used games . . .

LOL - point taken, but let's debate this.

As a fan of the genre (seeing the latest stuff is the primary motivator for why I bought back into video games after a ten year hiatus), you would expect I should be singing its praises in hopes of inspiring interest in the game, but I'm a bit more practical minded than that. Futuristic racers is a dead genre in Xbox land - unfortunate news for those (like me) who are diehard fans.

I'm saying that even if I ran out there and bought XGRA at its opening price (which is good by the way, and what I did with Quantum Redshift), and raved about how good the game was on newsgroups (like I did with QR, at xbox.com's forums), I suspect I'm not going to succeed at convincing enough people to save the game no matter how good it is, and I've seen enough critical and purchaser reviews to believe it is VERY good! (happily, and for the record)

I love the genre hope for more great games, but it's just a fact that there aren't enough fans of this type of game to support the market on Xbox, and I'm afraid the vendors are eventually going to realize that. XGRA is probably the last good futuristic racer we'll see for Xbox in a while, if companies out there are doing any market research to speak of. QR was excellent, had no competition on the platform, and it still tanked.

Today I could buy Quantum Redshift for the most rock-bottom price of any Xbox game out there; I could buy it used for less than 'Kabuki Warriors'. That is BAD news for racing fans, and an insult to QR and its developers (as was Microsoft cancelling QR2, which put Curly Monsters out of business - another tragedy).

Hopefully I'm totally wrong and there will be enough Xbox fans who know a fantastic thing when they see it, like the reception F-Zero GX has gotten on Gamecube. Some online critics I've read are actually saying, in many respects, XGRA outperforms F-Zero GX. Maybe enough people will see XGRA for what it is, and we'll see it climb the sales charts.

But - look how many visitors we have in this forum. That, and QR's unfair demise, tells you something. I won't carry this attitude over into other threads on this forum - I'll happily chat about all the game's features once I'm playing it. I'm just burdened with the knowledge that there won't be terribly many people to chat with, now or later, no matter how much XGRA deserves it.

If anybody's listening, please prove me wrong! Let's save XGRA! rah rah rah The genre's future on Xbox may depend on it.

I actually haven't seen it in the store and ever since EB and Gamestop changed their return policies I'm reluctant to buy the game without being sure I'm going to like it

XGRA = $45 Cdn; still same as when it came out. Still waiting ...

Waiting, waiting, waiting. There's only one game on the shelf at my local store, and I'm pretty sure it's the same one that was there the day it came out.

29.99 at futureshop, it seems they have like every damn copy of it. Is it worth the 35 dollars?

The store I'm watching has only one - the same one that's always been there. The entire Christmas season went by and nobody picked it up - I wasn't too worried.

I'm a huge fan of Quantum Redshift, and I expect XGRA will be even better than that based on reviews and the added features it has. But I'm a very patient shopper. When I KNOW for almost a fact that the price is going to drop quickly on a certain title, I wait; and so far that's applied to all futuristic racing games on Xbox.
