Payloads

I have a question with the pay loads in this game, can you choose loadouts like in AECA or are they more like Acecombat 04s? Do the aircraft get the right type of weapons? I was reading on some other thread that F-105Ds get ASMs, which they didn't in real life. The only ASMs it got was the AGM-45 Shrike and its a HARM.

Also, do you get to choose your own load outs like in Lethal Skikes 1, or is it like Ace combat, just choose a secondary weapon and thats all you get besides missiles and guns?

Also one other thing about your cannon in this game, is that does your aircraft get its real cannon, or is it just called Vulcan? It sounded dumb on AC and Lethal Skies 1 when all the aircraft had a Vulcan. Does the A-10's GAU-8 cannon do more damage then other types of cannons?

re: Payloads

No,this game is basially an arcade shooter and is nowhere
near the realism that is offered in AECA.You can not at
all customize your weapons payloads and only have guns,
misiles and special weapons.

For instance the F-5E TigerII carries about 70 missiles
and 30 or 50 UGB's.

The F-105D carries 70 missiles and 20 ASM's.

The Mig-21bis carries 80 missiles and about 30 UGB's.

I dont know if you can unlock other weapons for each
aircraft but it is my guess that there is only one
special weapon type for each plane.Oh! the SU-25A does
get to carry FAE's

I think it woud've been nice to have realistic weapons
designations and be able to customize your weapons loadout.
It doesn't bother me at all that you can carry such a
large amount of missiles or special weapons

re: Payloads

Thanks once again! I think this game is a lot better than Lethal Skies II even though I haven't played any of them yet. I like the number of aircraft it has. I also like the YAK-141 in it!

I will end up getting it some time, just wanted to know what to expect. It doesn't really bother me that much, but I would of radther had realistic weapons.

I have another question, is there any other colors for the aircraft?

And one more, is the storyline better than AC04's?

re: Payloads

AC4 has to have the best storyline of any flight shooter out there. This is nowhere near as good, but it's still interesting, but you've got to dig deep for the full idea.

There are about two other colors for each aircraft. ONe is pure black, and the other is the aircraft's real-life paint scheme. Not much variation in that case.

re: Payloads

The black paint scheme is a ferrite coating which is
suppose to help reduce hits form cannon rounds from
enemy aircraft. But it does and doesn't seem to help,
it does only raise your stealth level for non-stealth
aircraft by one only

re: Payloads

I really wish you had a choice of different weapons
for each charaters aircraft.I really hate having only
one type of special weapon to use

re: Payloads

Yeah, that's a problem. But compared to the first two games, having even one choice of a secondary weapon is good enough for me.
