It seems like whenever I start to pull away from the pack an AI car crashes and brings out a yellow flag I can never get the car to pit until i have control of the car again and I can never win the Indy 500 because of this please help

Basically you can not pit until the pits are open. Do this as soon as they do open. Depending on the amount of laps you are racing Do NOT change the tires in order to save time. You should be able to beat them as long as your car is set up really well. If you can pass the Masterclass test (the one where you have to adjust the car to beat a lap time of 38.4 or something) then you should know how to set up your car to beat those guys. Another key is to break the draft when they are behind you. I recommend racing at least 20 laps so you have time to win the race.

you can pit if your car is damaged,, though you'll only have the damage repared and be sent back out onto the track..

Have you turned AUTOMATIC CONTROL off????? Then you control the car, during the caution period. Then you can pit....lol
