That actually looks pretty cool. I thought the port on the bottom of the Revo controller was just for the Nunchuck thing, but That would probably work too.

In a recent interview with the President of the GDC (Game Devoloper's Confrence), he said that both Sony and Nintendo are going to be realising some juicy, zesty details about their new consoles at the GDC. So, look forward to next week.

I hope we get some new trailers from the GDC. Preferably next-gen.

Well the port is for any add-ons they make for it. And it looks like, after taking a nice money-saving (on my part) break from add-ons with the GameCube, they're going to be planning quite a few addons for this new controller.

re: Project Revolution Discussion Thread Part 2

Damn, I just noticed the length of the post. Anyways, my eyes hurt after reading all of that, but my post is much shorter. 4 projects, one is on the Revolution itself, and 3 games, 2 with actual screenshots, thanks to the Developer Kits sent out 2-3 weeks ago.

quote
Two Disc Formats, One Slot: Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content.

It's the second sentence that threw us for a loop. A small, "self-contained attachment" to play movies and other DVD content. Unless we're missing something, a self-contained attachment seems to suggest that Nintendo might sell a Revolution DVD-drive separately.

An odd choice of words in the press release or a vague confirmation that a separate drive is in the works? Let the speculation begin.
*IGN*

Strange idea, really ...not sure if I follow that choice(if they do it, that is). Might make it a bit more complicated than a built in one.

-----------------

Finally, the first Revolution screenshots! The developer kits have been sent just a few weeks ago, so these are the first, as far as I know(the Mario 128 trailer doesn't really count).

Pangya Golf

Trailer #2(01:14)

Full Article(IGN)

-------------
The next two are by Upstart Nibris. One seems fun, the other got me VERY interested.

First game: Raid over the River

quote
The company's first and more advanced Revolution project is called Raid Over the River. A DS version is also in development. Raid Over the River is a vertical shooter in which players control an air combat vehicle through a series of missions. The title will employ an "easy to learn, but hard to master" flight model, 10 different levels taking place in changing time and weather conditions, and at least four different aircraft, each with differing attributes. Available flight vehicles will include a fighter-class plane, bomber, transporter or AWACS, according to Nibris.
This seems quite fun, really.

Second game: Sadness(no pictures )
quote
The company's second game, Sadness, is nothing like the first. Nibris would like to keep the specifics a secret for the moment, but Orlovsky did provide a general overview in his own words.

"All I can say now is that it is going to be a gothic horror [game], which will scare not with the amount of blood but with sheer atmosphere. Imagine a game in which you do not use guns or knives but you will have to protect yourself with the objects you find exploring the ground -- a stone, a stick, etc," he said. "Some examples of using the controller - you swing a torch with it to scare the rats off; you slit the throat (controller as a piece of glass or a knife); if you want to climb the wall you will have to hook a rope over the piece of a wall sticking out (controller serving as a lasso). And this is only the beginning."
OMG...I really want this one! The article really got me interested in it. The idea of it alone gets me pumped up.*prays it is one of the launch releases*...

Uh-uh. The screenshots are from the PC version of the golf game, if you read the article right. And the RotR screenshots are from the originally planned GC version of the title (Nibris has no Rev devkit at the moment).

old.....anyway I believe someone said that the screen shots from the Pangya Golf game were from the pc version and not the revolution, although at the end there might not be much difference....

Has anyone played the game "King Kong"? That description reminded me of that game. In the game If you ran out of ammo (which happened all the time) You would have to pick up off the ground, a sharpened stick or bone, made from the island natives. Plus you could set your stick on fire.

If that game is like King kong, I must get it.

Since there is no offical date for the Revolution launch, then there should be no date for this game to come out. Looks cool though.

I was actually talking about the Revolution, not the game, but you still answered the question.

re: Project Revolution Discussion Thread Part 2

It's been confirmed at GDC, Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for you yanks) games will be available on the Virtual Console, as will games from the TurboGrafx-16 (which to be honest means nothing to me). But YAY! Sonic, Streets of Rage, and NiGHTS all on my Rev!

*gets a big horn*
