i loved the first paper mario and mario rpg(i think mario rpg was better since square kinda helped nintendo make it.)do u know when the actual US release date for Mario Kart is?

Well, I was surfing around the Net', and found some interesting snippets of information on the Successor to the GameCube and some various other Nintendo Goodies.

I'll go ahead and post this Info up..Now, again, this is information from the Internet. So who knows how reliable it is. But they do mention Company names and dates, so Its probably not too far fetched..

This should stir up some interesting conversations..


- A new disc media developed by Matsushita (a.k.a. Panasonic, one of Nintendo's partners in Gamecube development and manufacturer of the Japan-exclusive DVD-playing Q model of Gamecube is in cooperation with Osaka University, presumably will produce exclusive Media to the Gamecube's successor system, that is capable of holding a whopping 15 terabytes (!!!) of data. For those of you who aren't up on your techie lingo... that's more than 300 DVDs' worth of data. Crazy, No?

- The Official CodeName.. is.. ... ... GameCube 2. Or Is It "N5"? Either way, The two names are the most Used CodeNames on the Internet at the Moment. Though N5 Sounds a bit more "Official".

- Nintendo's charismatic Satoru Iwata recently made some interesting comments about the possibility of a new game product being unveiled in Spring next year.

Speaking at an analyst briefing, Iwata commented that Nintendo is "preparing a new product which will be surprising and unique. [Sony's] multi-function handheld device will not have a big impact on our business. But we are preparing for our future."

Iwata would not comment further on the nature of the new product, or whether he was referring to successors to either the GameCube or GBA, citing "competitive reasons" for the secrecy. He added: "We will tell you the specifics next spring."

Could this be some Pre-News on the N5, Successor to the GameCube? Perhaps.

What???!!!That sucks if they're just going to make a remake(I still think they should make a sequel, it'll attract more sales for the people who have played it or heard about it).

But the problem is, hardly anyone has played it. It was released when the N64 was almost dead so the sales were terrible. So if they made a sequel, most people wouldn?t buy it because they never played the prequel, and I don?t think Paper Mario is on sale anymore.

And I wouldn?t think the sequel would be as good?

Not at all... They are remaking the original Paper Mario for GCN, not a sequel. Paper Mario was released in Europe at the end of the N64, so the sales weren't as good.

The only reasom I want a sequel of Paper Mario is because there are hardly any RPGs on GCN and I think it would still do well on the GC because it doesn't have RPGs, so people who want RPGs especially turn-based(like me) would really want it because it is a quality RPG.

There's no denying that the GameCube has a large population of kid gamers. Nintendo themselves have admitted that theirs is more a segment of kid-friendly games than mature ones. On the other hand is Microsoft. Ed Fries, Vice President of Xbox game content says "the Xbox started off as a mature console, that is starting to change."
Much of the Xbox titles are aimed at people of college age and beyond. "We need more experimentation," admitted Fries. "We know how to reach the hardcore gamer. We know how to make role-playing games, racing games. We need to find out how to reach a wider audience." In an attempt to capture some of the ground traditionally occupied by Nintendo and GameCube, Microsoft is planning around 10 child-friendly games for the Xbox for the Holiday season.
It looks like Microsoft is almost on the other end of the spectrum than Nintendo when it comes to mature games. In contrast to trying to appeal to the older demographic, Xbox is struggling to find ground with children. He said that in the past many had been reluctant to make games for children just for the Xbox as they were not convinced they would sell. "It has taken a while to convince them that we have more than a hardcore audience, that we are going to be a broad appeal machine," said Fries.
Rare, the former Nintendo second party, is one of the companies that will take on appealing to younger players. Ken Lobb of Rare says the challenge was coming up with games that did not patronise children and also offered something for adults. "You don't dumb games down just because you think they are for children." Very true...
