Just some game news for those fans interested:
quoteNews: EA Needs Speed, Will You Give It Them? Posted by Ash - Apr 13th 2005 20:15
While it was rumoured a while ago Electronic Arts have finally confirmed that they are working on another Need for Speed title, this one called Need for Speed: Most Wanted.
The new Need for Speed title won't be too dissimilar to previous ones, however this one will require players to engage in "strategic police pursuits". Not exactly the kind of morals a video game company should be promoting arguably.
“Out-race your opponents, evade cops and exploit the open world in Need for Speed Most Wanted; street racing doesn’t get any better than this,” said Larry LaPierre, senior producer, EA Canada. "Players instantly will feel the thrill of the ride as they hit the streets in an open world environment where drivers can tune their cars to compete against any class of vehicles or use their wits to out-fox the law to satisfy their need for speed.”
Seems that Electronic Arts have gotten out their Oxford Dictionary of African-American Vernacular English for this game. As players race they will build up their 'Rap Sheet' until they become notorious enough to join the 'Black List'. As well as racing against other drivers players must now try and escape the pursuing cops, adding a whole new level of play to the game.
The game will be released on the GameCube and DS.
quoteRumour: SSX 4, Let's Go Ski-ing Posted by wildo - Apr 11th 2005 19:46
EA's latest instalment of its highly acclaimed snowboarding series might be coming with a little twist.
A recent unconfirmed rumour about EA's latest SSX game has us believing that you can now go skiing as well as your usual snowboarding. Not only that but new swanky visual effects such as blurring, much like those seen in Burnout, will be added to give a nice new flavour to the series. Also rumoured is a new create-a-character mode, something which should see all players controlling none other than themselves down those speedy snow-capped mountains.
It's clear that EA are thinking about new content for this latest adaptation but whether it is true or not is still unclear, stick with Cube-Europe for all of the latest info.
Source: CVG quoteNews: From Russia With New Details Posted by Ash - Apr 13th 2005 19:58
EA have released some more information about upcoming title From Russia With Love, include a list of features that will be included in the game.
Electronic Arts have delved into the past for the next James Bond title. Based on the film of the same name From Russia With Love will feature Sean Connery's likeliness (from 1963 of course) and voice. While this was previously known Electronic Arts have provided us with more details.
Play as Connery’s Bond Sean Connery provides his voice and likeliness, allow you to be the original Bond.
Enter the World of Classic 007 The game will mirror that of '60s Bond films; from the exotic locations to the vintage cars, with a few beautiful women thrown in for good measure.
The Best Bond Experience Yet The game will feature stealth and driving missions and a non-linear progression between the levels. As well as this players will be able to use a new zoom and focus aiming mechanic to make sure they get their shots spot-on.
Brand-New Multiplayer Mode One of the best features of Bond games has been multiplayer, and EA are keen to keep this going. This game will allow players to engage in split-screen deathmatch games.
Control 007 Like Never Before As if its not enough saving the world you are now scored for how well you do. The bright side however is that you will be able to upgrade equipment, skills and abilities.
Classic Gadgets Made Modern The game will feature a range of classic weapons and gadgets, all updated with unique 21st century twists.
Electronic Arts have also announced the Australian release date as October 10th, but of course it is subject to change.

Harry Potter is about to star in his fifth game, to co-inside with his forth book. Harry Potter fans rejoice, everyone else roll their eyes.
Players are once again put in control of Harry Potter and his friends in this new game, based upon the upcoming book by J.K. Rowling. “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fifth Harry Potter videogame we have created, and we are incredibly excited with the fresh innovations that the team has brought to the game,” said Harvey Elliott, Executive Producer at EAUK. “With high anticipation for the film and our strong relationship with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we have been able to develop a game that complements the film in this exciting addition to the Harry Potter franchise.”
“Working with EA, we look forward to offering players a highly developed Harry Potter game with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” said Jason Hall, Senior Vice President for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The game will possess the extremely creative aspects of the Harry Potter world captured in both the film and the book, giving fans a complete interactive experience.”
Harry, Ron, and Hermione will all be playable in this title and each one is modelled after their on-screen counterparts. EA have also decided to make it so that every time someone casts some magic the controller rumbles, so you can "feel the magic." Players will also be able to team up with friends and engage in a co-operative play mode.
The plot of the game involves Harry being mysteriously selected as the fourth competitor in the dangerous Triwizard Tournament. This tournament is no piece-of-cake either, each competitor must confront a fire-breathing dragon, rescue friends from the icy depths of the Black Lake, and navigate the twisting mysteries of a vast, dangerous maze. As well as this players will be able to visit the Quidditch World Cup campsite and even duel with Lord Voldemort.
The game is due out on the GameCube and DS, but no date has been set yet.
All taken from Cube-Europe.com Those guys rule. To be honest, not one of these titles interests me. Nice work EA...

It was announced a while back that new GCNs wouldn't have the extra high-def ports. They claimed it was because thecables themselves sold poorly and determined that this meant a lack of interest when really it was likely because they only sold the wires online at Nintendo.com. Once again Nintendo shoots themselves in the foot, but this time blames the bullet and outlaws guns.

Namco announces Hello Kitty Roller Rescue for Nintendo's console; feline and other Sanrio characters will be 3D.
Continuing its onslaught of games aimed at a younger audience, Namco Hometek today announced that Hello Kitty Roller Rescue will be purring on the GameCube this August. The game is being developed by Xpec Entertainment, the Taiwanese developer that released the maligned Black Stone: Magic & Steel to the Xbox back in 2003. In Roller Rescue, Hello Kitty and friends must save Sanriotown from an alien invasion. Block-O, king of the block planet, mistakes discarded gift boxes for his own rectangular kind and sends troops to Earth to liberate them. In her quest to stop Block-O, Hello Kitty will be joined by more than 20 other Sanrio characters, including Badtz Maru, the grumpy penguin, and Kerropi, the happy frog.
The game will be the first Hello Kitty title rendered in 3D. It will be mostly an action game, with some puzzle-solving elements.
Namco holds the licenses of several properties aimed at children. In addition to Hello Kitty, the company also owns the publishing rights to Gumby, Popeye, The Berenstain Bears, and the recently signed Peanuts gang.

Namco Buys Rights To Peanuts Franchise
|
It has nothing to do with keeping their image kiddy and family friendly. You people all fail to understand just how HUGE Hello Kitty actually is in Japan. All Nintendo is doing right now, is being smart and capitalizing on a gold mine...
Anyway with that said:
quoteNews: Namco Buys Peanuts Posted by Ashley - Apr 21st 2005 21:55
Namco have interactive entertainment publishing rights to "Peanuts." Let's all do the Snoopy Dance to celebrate!
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Peppermint Patty, Linus and Pigpen will all be appearing on current and upcoming consoles until 2009 thanks to Namco, who have signed a deal with United Media.
"'Peanuts' is one of the most celebrated comic strips of all time, and Charlie Brown and his friends have firmly cemented their place as American icons of the highest order," said Jeff Lujan, Business Director at Namco Hometek, Inc. "We relish this opportunity to continue these beloved characters' storylines through the medium of games and are honored to introduce this cherished property to an all-new generation of gamers."
For those who enjoy random facts, did you know that while "Peanuts" started in just seven newspapers in 1950 it has gone on to appear in 2400 newspapers in 75 countries and 21 languages worldwide. Of course the series was created by Charles M. Schulz and has become such a part of popular culture that everyone knows about Charlie Brown and co.
cube-europe.com I hope the games don't suck.

Well at least Namco is on the ball with these things. I only hope they don't make Snoopy have spoken dialogue.

Anyone who played Tales of Symphonia knew it was bound to happen. ToS has recently started going Player's Choice. I would advise everyone (even those not usualy into RPGs). It uses a battle system that is very original.
