On field of honor, ive tried destroying the orion fighters first after the klingons, and excelsior blows up. ive tried going after the captial ships first, and the excelsior blows up. HELP!

hi im stuck on the same level but i just cant get past the last objective. Ideas (what worked for me):

collect samples destroying ships as they come

destroy the waves of klingon fighters they all stick together so if you pust A + X buttons at the same time and it fires the phaser and torpedo

Go and kill the orion battle ship once destroyed the other ship flees and then you are left with the fighters

In field of honor...Has to be the most frustrating boring ridiculous mission i have ever seen in a star trek game. EVEN on EASY mode
(Excelsior is without sheilds too i might add, and not defending itself)
it STILL seems Impossible to save Excelsior from the orion fighters,AFTER successfully parrying off attacks from the kligons and the Orion capital Ships, simply because the klingons do manage to hit the ship, and you're frustrated that you can't risk firing on the excelsior while fighting them.

once finished "excelsior has minor hull damage" sulu says. then the orions come in, and during that time without shield or defenses, i have to singlehandely take out one orion capital ship, long enough to scare off the other capital ship

but excelsior gets heavily damaged in this last leg of a boring 25 minute repetitive shoot fest, that I have found that...there are many orion fighters, just like the klingons, even if you managed to kill the orion fighters, more fighters come in...and mind you this is on easy...i picked easy, cause normal was too hard, and i wnated to move on. and STILL more fighter come in, pick off the barely surviving excelsior "hull integrity at critical" I think is just ridiculous, i just want to move on, play the rest of the missions, but if the rest of the missions are like this on EASY mode, i want my money back, so if you guys have any idea how to beat this short of a game shark let me know at my email. cause i want to ENjoy a game WITHOUT a gameshark.
