How do you think this game will play out? I never saw Front Mission as the type of series to go MMORPG, but I guess it could work.

I hope the game plays out like Front Mission 3, and I also hope the game incoroporates plot elements. FM3 ended on a major cliffhanger, and I'd like to see that one resolved

Well, I haven't played any of the Front Mission games, but I'm just hoping FMO will turn out to be a good MMORPG. I think this will be no problem since Square Enix is behind the development of the game. We'll see how it finally turns out when the game is released.

FM4 will be classic FM, while FMO will be a online PS2 and PC cross over game.

A nice MMORPG and I wish to see the Philippines again.

I hope the game turns out to be FFXI-ish in it's mechanics, not a PlanetSide clone, game which got boring extremely fast.

Actually, I always thought Front Mission 3 (and now 4) would be an excellent 2 player game, or even have some online strategy game potential.

I would love to see Front Mission done up like Anarchy Online or Lineage in a way. You can join the military and get missions that way, or try to freelance it on your own. Some of the missions, escorting a convoy from one city to another with pirates attacking. And those convoys could also affect the economy, if the cargo makes it, prices are fine, if the cargo is captured or destroyed by pirate marauders, then the prices go higher or some city starts to run out of supplies, and more missions to get that cargo there are required... it could be an entire living-breathing universe if they did it correctly.

just how close will it be to FM4? if it's anything like FM3 then forget it.

I beleive it is turnbased. So it will be a lot different from other mech games that I like but I do love the turn based strategy. I hope that the price online is not a lot, not like FFXI. The customizing looks very good though, lots of options.

no, i don't believe it's turn based at all. it's in beta testing right now and from what i've seen it looks like its a 3rd person shooter. of course that could all change, heck even halo was a PC strategy game at one time in its development. it'd rock if it was an online turnbased game but we may have to wait until FM5 for that.

You sure? From all the pics I have seen it looks turn based though I could be mistaken. I'll have to double check later on.

i swear i read somewhere that it is a 3rd person shooter... but i can't confirm that right now. just take a look at the screen shots i got from the official FMO site, they have 3rd person shooter written all over them.


i'm not too sure what the game offers outside of online play. if all it offers is a MMORPG and no campaign or solid single player modes of play, then i'm not too certain that it will come stateside. i hate to say it but there isn't much of a mech gaming community out there willing to pay for an unfamiliar MMORPG type japanese mech game. then again, maybe square' will pimp it and it will come stateside after all. here's hoping.

Wow that's interesting. That's definately going to change the shape of things. Now it will be pretty much like Mechwarrior and Mech Assault. If it will surpass that we will have to wait and see.

Looks pretty Armored Core-ish to me... could be fun though.
