Mining is an eay way, but it takes a while when you just start.

It will definitely take time when you first start out, especially since you have to spend so much in the beginning. You can mine, bet on the horse races, wait until you get the wine bottle in the mail then sell it to Won (but that takes time), or just continuously go around and pick things that you find and sell those. You could also get lots of animals but that is another one of those things that you have to spend the money to make the money.
