WOTR works normally on Vista EXCEPT it won't save player profiles, nor will it save or load games! A bit of a nuisance.

Used to work fine on XP. VUGames no longer support the game - any suggestions or patches out there please?

My bro had the same problem... You will need to uninstall the game first. Then go to your User Accounts, (UAC)turn off. User Account Control must be turned off. Now re-install the game. It should work fine now. Good Luck!

A much simpler and less dangerous solution is to run the game as an administrator - right click on the icon, select properties, then compatibility, then select "Run this program as an Administrator" under the "Privilege Level" header. (You may have to be logged in as an administrator to select this, I don't know).

The problem is that War of the Ring tries to save profiles and game saves to the directory where it was installed, a directory that Vista does not give write permissions to by default - I'm not exactly sure why. Running as an administrator, however, will give write permissions to War of the Ring, allowing for normal save games.

I don't think it made any difference, but I'm also running it under compatibility mode for XP, just in case.

hey tolkien fans... i have a problem too... once my game is finished installing, it said Insert disc that labels Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring. Then i put the right disk in, but it didn,t work! i kept switching yet nothing!!! Please help me!
