Salocin----New to Gimp |
|
Welcome to Zitro Designs! ![]() I have recently begun graphics. I just started sometime last month, but I have used gimp before just fooling around. I am new so I would appreciate all comments and/or criticism you leave. Also I would like if you left tips on how I could improve. Thanks for any C & C. ![]() ~Salocin

The rendering is choppy, bad quality, bad color choice, ect. Not to get on your case or anything. I know nothing about GIMP, so no help there. =P Not bad for a beginner, though. Might wanna check out the tutorial forum, and see what you can learn. Another thing i find wrong with the Naruto banners is, the phrase says "Believe It", when it should be "Dattebyo".

Does dattebyo mean believe it? Also i have tried the tuts, but some steps are confusing and unclear to me, plus it takes some people an hour or so to respond. I also just found out that by saving the render/stock to your computer, it keeps the transperency and there is almost no need to create paths. and anyone else have any comments/criticisms/tips for me? I really want to get better with this stuff. ![]() ~Salocin

Just keep practicing with the tutorials, and eventually you'll get it. If you don't get it now, practice will make it perfect. You're not bad though. You at least have a basic concept of making a decent piece, but you need more practice.

Okay thanks. I'm currently trying the "Effekted" Tut. I'll see what happens with that. I'll try to think positive about the outcome, but I think that I will mess up somewhere along the lines. Any other C & C and tips on how i can improve my work? ![]() ~Salocin

New Piece: ![]() I made this one by taking a c4d (i think) then changing the color, then taking parts and duplicating the layer, i then brushed over it with a fractal set, vector set, and galaxy brush set. I wasn't sure how to put the stock in though. C & C ~Salocin

Well for a beginner, you're decent. I like your MegaMan and your last posted one. Those ones are more of your stronger banners. Just keep practicing and you'll be there soon. ^^ But, that is all I can really say, you just need to work on blending the photos into your creation. I don't use GIMP, so I'm not sure what tools are given to you. Just keep at it and you'll improve vastly. X3

For a beginner, I say you're good. As for your newest banner; good that you haven't placed the render in the center because it would horrible like that. Be care full so you wont over do with the brushing because it seems like you have brushed over her face, but I wouldn't know since you haven't showed what stock you've used. There's soo much space on the left so I'd have added something to make up for that. The text and the border is horrible. Orange as border is never good, never. You shouldn't have lowered the opacity of the text and another type of font and color would make it look better. ^^

I notice that on your latest banner, there's a bit of brushing on the top right part of the border. I guess maybe you've moved the brushing layer over the border layer for some reason? In any case, try not to do that--save the border for second to last, or last. Also, a slim (one-pixel) black or darker colored border would work better for this piece than the orange you've got there.
The blending is good, I don't see any on her face. The bulk of the blending is on the lower part of the stock, and that's pretty neat. Like taki said, the rest of the sig is empty, except for the small text. But don't try and make the text larger to compensate. (I tried that before, and it made the sig look like utter crap) In the future, if you're going to use a smaller stock, try a smaller canvas so that you fill the canvas more and don't get those empty spots. Also, do some painting with an interesting brush so you get a bit more substance in the sig.

Thanks, but i didnt use any brushes at all on the brown one. That must have been a really good tut then.
