Stigmatised

re: Stigmatised (Out of practise) |

Really Crick, damn. I made it and didn't realise how similar it was to INF's.
No shit sherlock, I tried to achieve the same effects as he did, of course it is going to look similar. It isn't like I simply copied any part of his, I made mine from scratch, I simply used his idea. I'm more than capable of coming up with my own and have done numerous times in the past, but if I like something, I want to try and duplicate that effect, I couldn't think of how else to do it, I even tried to draw other animals than snails which didn't work out.

Similar to INF's indeed, but it's still a nice piece.

Everyone hold yer horses now. I think its great, and I am honored the psychedelic snail will reach an even broader audience now. All the psychedelic toads out there better run (or maybe hop) away.
To be honest I never really liked my snail piece, as stated in my digiport, its the bastard child I never would have had under normal circumstances, but I was in need of some new style practice. quote StigmatisedI originally had 2 or 3 vectored mushrooms but it looked cliched and boring. The snail is a good choice, easy to draw and fits with the style. Long live the PSYCHEDELIC SNAIL>>>

Yay he likes it.
Moving swiftly on from the snails and what not. I have spent the last two days making my first *cross fingers* good space piece. I made absolutely everything from scratch, planet, stars, and the weird lighting thingy. ![]()

Nice work stig.
I has a nice ambient mood to it and I love the texure you've managed to get on the planet. The stars seem a bit weird though. Perhaps drastically lowering the opacity of some of them would even them out a bit more. I also think that the main lighting thing you've made is a tad too bright. All in all good piece, could use a tweak or two though.

Stars look pretty decent. Probably more realistic than people think actually. Could use a couple larger ones here and there though, and possibly lowered opacity in the top right corner. Your lighting thing could stand to be darker, and so could the planet. The contrast is a tad overwhelming.

It's not a bad attempt, it's quite nice to look at but there are some definite parts that could use improvement. The biggest thing is the planet, and specifically the top part of it. It looks too contrasted/bright when compared to the intensity of the light source at the top. Also I feel there are perhaps just a few too many stars (especially the larger, closer ones), makes it look a little too busy for space.
Aside from that, like I said, not bad. The green lighting looks pretty cool (although I don't know what that'd be in space

He by no means has 'too many' stars. If you look at a picture of part of the universe then you can see that it is just plastered with stars. Now, I'm not saying that it looks good like that, but it is how it looks out in space.

You've just linked to a picture of a galaxy. Stigmatised's piece is of a close up on a planet; not quite equivalent. I just think there are a few too many of the larger dots, especially clustered around the top of the planet.

I agree, I don't like the really "dotty" dots if that makes sense, some stars look more real than others. Also the planet is a little sharp. ♥

quote Shattered SilenceI realized that after I posted it actually. But I still think it applies somewhat. Maybe not on such a large scale, but I do think that you'd be able to see more stars than you think. *And yes, the glow from the planet would prevent a lot of the stars closer to it from being seen.

I also feel the planet is overly sharpened and you've lost a lot of detail in white. I'm curious to see how much clipping is in that image.
Toning down the planet would be the first aspect I'd look at. Furthermore, after adjusting it a bit, I found more cloud patterns around the planet that I couldn't normally see. Perhaps it's my laptop screen but have you considered bringing those out more?
