Reqreation - Assimilated Painting |
|
Please note that, not only is constructive criticism allowed, it's very much encouraged
001: Deviant ID - Made for someone's ID tag down at Deviant Art. Don't know if it's still being used, but I was pretty happy with it, with the possible exception of the crystallised motion blur. Made from scratch with Adobe Photodeluxe 2, with the exception of the two characters (as requested). 002: Breakthrough - Created to convey a sense of mystery and new discovery, from scratch, using Adobe Photoshop 7. Req, I love them both. I hope that you put more of your work up.
With Deviant ID, I think it's wonderful. The characters are blended and put on the image wonderfully. The background is catchy and looks good, and pleasing to the eye. But with the guys left arm, is the elbow supposed to be purple? With Breakthrough, the only thing I can say is wow. It looks mysterious, like you obviously wanted, and kind of 3D. Good work.

The devID is nice, but the background doesn't go well with Love Hina. And that motion blur you mentioned.

Hehe, nice work, Dancehall Tornado...
The flarey mirror-ball is very nicely done. I also like your kung-fu style font However, the background needs to go. The black-white gradient you used doesn't do justice to the wonderful flare you have in the centre. Perhaps different colour selection or even a different background entirely would benefit your image. Also, the text to the right is a little unclear, but still readable, so I guess it isn't that big of a prob. It would probably not work under different circumstances, but how about a grid background?

Oooh. Light burst... good job. I don't really favor the color of the person. Maybe it's the background.

I used Photodeluxe for the Dev ID and Photoshop for everything else.
I thought there might be something missing with 'The Politics of Dancing', so maybe it is that the background needs changing... I tried a grid before, though, and I felt it didn't work too well. Though, I'll try playing around with a few things and see what the outcome is. Thanks for the comments, all. Oh, to answer Wever before, all of his shirt is purple, it's just that the orange stripe (+ blend mode) covers most of it I might as well post this, since I never really got feedback from anywhere. This was drawn, scanned and coloured using Photoshop. There's a load of conceptual thought behind this one, from the colours used to the expression, pose, gestures, clothes, etc. Some of the colouring I'm not happy with, but after a while I just wanted to get it finished. Alot of good shading there Req, but the crouch could use a bit of work, maybe a softer touch? I think you did a very good job from the waist to the neck. The hair is also good, but when it gets to the pony tail it looses its realistic texture. Good job though.
