Ryo's Graphics {Rangiku Matsumoto Banner & More} |

Welcome to my homemade DigiPort! I know it isn't much now, but once my skills improve, no one will be disappointed with me, I'll make the graphics gods bow to me! I also attempt to use filters, gradient, and paint bucket as backgrounds as well. If you must know, I use cheap methods for placing the pictures onto their respective backgrounds. I go to Edit > Copy, switch to the background (or whatever I'm trying to place the picture on), Edit > Paste I know you beautiful graphics gods and goddesses have other ways of doing things and might wish to share your wisdom with an apprentice such as myself. My skills well, they've improved from some time ago when I had no idea of what I was doing. Though I still am having trouble in Image Ready with GIF, the animated ones never seem to work when I resize them I want honest opinions from people, no matter how harsh they may be. I must improve! Also, in order to explain each one, I need a faster computer...which means if you really want to know how I did a certain piece (or just want to tell me how to improve), I'll need a PM or you to ask questions here. That is what this thread is for, right? This message was edited by PrincessRyo on Jul 06 2007. This message was edited by PrincessRyo on Jul 06 2007.

Do you resize the gifs in ImageReady? I find it strange that it won't be animated after doing it there. Maybe you resized it in Photoshop?
I like the last three made, especially the 'Bloody Violet' one, heh If you use control+t to resize pictures, be sure to hold shift while you're stretching it out or decreasing it in size to keep the proportions equal. But I like the work overall thus far. They are certainly better than what I made in my first year. Can't wait to see more work, keep it up, PrincessRyo

I do use ImageReady...but then again I go to Photoshop right afterwards. I guess that was my mistake
The 'Bloody Violet' already had lots of blood on the original picture, but I opted out for getting rid of it. I wanted to have multiple pictures of the same girl, but blood is more enhancing to me for some reason. Maybe my fetish for anime blood is rising again...? But thanks...and criticism is appreciated "Master" Storm, I said all kinds as long as it isn't flaming As for the resizing, I'll take that advice and keep it in mind when dealing with both animated and non-animated pictures.

Not bad, Ryo-chan. Glad you finally got your port open. -_^
Well, I don't use photoshop myself, so I'll have to give you general tips. As Storm said, make sure that your resizing is in proportion so that the image doesn't stretch. I like this banner especially. It looks great. For improvement, keep reading tutorials to learn new skills and download lots of different brushes. Its also good to use lots of different fonts. Dafont is a good place to look. This message was edited by Oni on Jan 24 2007.

Omg, Ryo! WHERE DID YOU GET THAT RUKIA WITH HEADPHONE AVATAR? Must...have...the...stock...
Is there a link to the original image? Pretty please? (<--- Rukia maniac, if you haven't noticed) Now on to the REAL C&C's. They're okay for a person who just started. I see one serious problem with your works though: Most of them are squished >_<.

I could stop squishing my pictures...a lot...so I think I'll take that advice to heart.

Alright, here I am again with another crappy creation of doom
No just kidding, but I don't know about it, I just don't like it for some reason. It looks...bleh to me. Any comments for this one? Anything I can do to make it look better? I was attempting to make a small tribute to Naruto and Hinata, but it didn't come out right in my opinion. The picture on the right is blurred while the other matches the clouds background perfectly. ![]()

It looks bleh to me too, Ryo, no offense.
First of all, the stocks should be put below the border layer, not on top of it. Second of all, the squishing issue's still there There's not much going on with the background, which isn't a good thing. Maybe get some stock/background online that would suit the images and then open it up as a layer and set it to overlay (if photoshop has it).

I agree with mettaur here. I like it, but mettaur's right, put the border layer on top of the others. I'm fine with the images placement and the background is pretty good from my perspective. Maybe you should shrink the images a bit more.

The stocks (images) you used look a tad bit low quality. It seems that you probably resized a really large image into that size, and decreased the quality by shrinking it. Try to avoid that.
Other than that, I agree with what the others say. Make a focal point/center for the piece next time, Ryo-chan. This message was edited by Oni on Jan 27 2007.

Not bad. But you're still resizing out of proportions. Not all that much as before, though. Also, remember to add a border of some kind. Work doesn't feel very complete without borders.
For this one, I think it would be better to have only one focal point. But not bad. I like it. Keep it up, and try to get better. I look forward to coming here and seeing more work. =D

I've taken everyone's advice and fixed it up a lot, it does look better. I'll have to upload it sometime today since I'm currently at school and have no way to do that at the moment.

My advice is, find some brushes, learn a couple basic tutorials, and start experimenting. Remember, you make it the way YOU want. If it looks good to you, then go for it. All we do is try to give some tips on how to make it better.
Hope that spurred you on a little.

![]() Okay! I tried something different and focused on the better picture, though something still doesn't seem quite right. My problem? When I tried to add a border to this one, it would just look like faded edges around the banner. I wish I knew how to fix that That problem and the fact that I just noticed some of my cutting is visible Oy...now I'll have to do it AGAIN But I did go for a better approach at it, comments and advice are always welcome.
