Best team setup

What you need to do for the best team. i did this with the durandel guys.

SUPPORT TEAM (link them together):
Zead - 2 missiles; 2 melee; item backpack (missile ammo)
Hermes - 2 missiles; 1 rifle; repair backpack
Beck - 2 missiles; 1 MG; 1 melee; radio backpack

ASSAULT TEAM (link them together):
Bosch - 2 MG; sensor backpack
Elsa - 1 MG; 1 shotgun; jetpack or sensor backpack
Latona - 2 melee; sensor or emp backpack

you send the Assault team ahead (together, not separate), obviously to stir up trouble and cause damage, but your really just getting them targeted with the sensors which you will be able to since at least Bosch will have a sensor. so your Support team can just stay in the same spot and rain down missiles on their heads while the Assault team softens them up and takes a few out. ive used this tactic (3 and 3) for most of the time (before Beck joined, i had Zead and Hermes as the solo Support) and it works excellent. when you get the best missiles (which are called like Parania or something anyway they do 480 damage) they really rail the enemies (just remember to get their missile proficiencies up to increase damage. you will have to buy the abilities using the computer for Hermes and Beck). so anyway, this works great. for the Assault team, you will want to focus on getting them as many Link points and AP as possible cause they thrive on linked attacks. the more AP and Links they have the more times they can attack off each other. you can have them attack like 2 or 3 times each per battle sometimes.

re: Best team setup

Got to admit it nice team, congratulations but it isn't necesary to have because of the damm low AI, that makes the game so easy already, let's hope that FM5 does offer some more challenge

It isn't that dead here, just the game is already old and it isn't too popular

re: Best team setup

I guess it's time for a bump then. Here are my best team setups.

Elsa's Team
Double-wielding assault units
•Elsa w/shotgun and machine gun
•Bosch w/two machine guns

Launcher/sniper units
•Zead w/rockets (or missiles) and bazooka
•Beck w/missiles and bazooka

Mechanic/striker units
•Hermes w/melee weapon and repair pack
•Latona w/melee weapon and repair pack

Why?
Well, Elsa is basically the same as always, but Bosch gets two machine guns and a more powerful wanzer instead of the single machine gun and less powerful wanzer w/sensor pack. The way I see it, the sensor pack is really only good for ONE mission, so it's hardly worth even equipping at all. Zead and Beck get bazookas so they can link up with the other team members and do some very nasty damage with the Rock Jacks that they'll equip in the end. Hermes is equipped with a melee weapon because his repair pack makes him reliant on others for reloads to his machine gun, so equipping him with the melee weapon makes him self-sufficient on ammo. And Latona--I only see maybe TWO missions where she'll need the EMP pack, so it's not even worth equipping for most missions. I think it's better to give her a repair pack so she can help take the burden to heal off Hermes and help heal where needed.

Darril's Team
Double-wielding assault units
•Luis w/shotgun and machine gun
•Thammond w/two machine guns

Launcher/sniper units
•Renges w/grenades (or rockets) and bazooka
•Ines w/grenades (or rockets) and bazooka

Mechanic/striker units
•Darril w/melee weapon and repair pack
•Chaeffer w/melee weapon and repair pack

Why?
Luis and Thammond retain their weapons setups, but that's all that will remain the same. Darril gets a repair pack so he can help take the burden to heal off Chaeffer, and heal where needed. He retains his melee weapon, but not the shotgun since there are already enough assault units as it is. Renges and Ines are equipped with grenades so that there can be two grenadiers carpet-bombing on enemies, and thus inflict double damage to a single unit (or even two or three at a time). They are also equipped with bazookas so they can join in the links with the other pilots and have a backup weapon in case they run out of grenades. Chaeffer retains his repair pack, but loses the machine gun. Instead I have him equipped with a melee weapon to make him more self-sufficient, just like Hermes.
