Yer I know, vs seeker is the best item by far IMO. Wild pokemon give such bad experience I certainly won't be as high as I was in fire red but then I was overlevelled in that - you as well - so this one should be a bit more challenging

Ooo yeah I love it when it's like that! Yeah it's like free experience so I often train a lot in those situations. Did you get to the end of that game where you got to go onto the second island place and go in a volcano? You join up with some guy with a Claydol. Since there's loads of fire and rock pokemon around there, it's the perfect place for training up water pokemon - my Milotic went from lvl 71 to lvl 100 in that guys company I kept killing his Claydol as well cos I used surf, although you didn't get experience from it (how unfair ) He must sure have a lot of revives, potions, elixers etc. I will miss that kind of thing in Sapphire.

Anyway I just started pokemon Ruby and started with Mudkip. It has been so long since I have played this game I am excited!

No I didnt get to the end of diamond I beat the final gym leader but got kind of bored with my pokemon team and I just kind of fell out of it. I started playing fire red and was happy because I loved my pokemon. I think I am going to have to restart pokemon diamond after ruby.

What pokemon would you suggest getting in Ruby? I was kind of thinking about getting a tailo

Aww ok, yeah it's never so great when you don't like your team I do like a lot of the originals from fire red - it's certainly easiest to make a team you like Hmm Diamond I'm a bit unwilling to start again, although I'd like to - I have over 200 hours playing time, my team is super-high and I've been breeding pokemon specifically for them to be at their best etc...still Sapphire first I may change my mind later on

Yup Taillow is by far the best thing you can get at the beginning of the game - I have one in my team at the moment and it's easily my strongest. As for the others, it's up to you really You proved that anything could be trained in fire red by raising your Meowth so whatever you want to train - go for it really If you ever find a Surskit though I wouldn't advise training that...they're quite rare but available from the beginning and also avoid Wurmple, due to it's butterfree-esque evolutions which rapidly get weak

Also with Taillow, it's very similar to use as the Pidgeot evolution, just a bit stronger at the start, so you should get along very well with it so yes catch one of those

Alright I think I will just stick with Taillow and Mudkip for a while, I dont like to catch a lot of pokemon as you know. Mudkip is growing super fast, he is already at level 13 and I have not even been to the first Gym....

I have forgotton how awkward this game kind of look lol. Everyone looks so much different from the other pokemon games. I mean it isnt a bad thing, it just doesnt really have that Pokemon look to it. I dont know what it is, maybe its just me...

Yea, I dont really know the pokemon in Diamond. So I just got kind of bored. They kind of lost their touch after the original pokemon... Well even the ones from johto are pretty good... But after that it kind of gets weird. I mean a Pokemon thats a balloon

Hehe yup and there isn't anything at the end of this one that you need 60 pokedex for so you can can get away with it this time My Treecko seemed to grow pretty quickly to start with too. I think mine was 12 for the first gym but since you only have 2 your levels are bound to be higher I already have a team of 6 hehe, although 1 of them I don't use - it's a lvl 4 Zigzagoon, but I take it around with me cos of it's ability - pickup - which randomly finds objects on the ground as you travel around/battle - I've already netted a 20k profit in pokemoney from all the nuggets it's found for me It's very handy

It is an odd looking game actually - everyone seems very tall and thin. I do agree with you - it isn't quite the same cosy pokemon feeling which all the others have, although no I'm not saying it's bad

In the end when I restarted Diamond, half of my team ended being older pokemon anyway - there aren't really that many new ones and yup like you say when you've got things like the balloons - drifloom and drifblim, it narrows down the choice even further...

I've only just done the first gym so you're not far behind - I expect I'll do a bit more on it tonight since I have to train 5 pokemon already instead of your 2

I am planning on getting my first badge tonight, I beat all of the JR trainers in the gym I just need to beat Roxanne or whatever her name is.

Yea the buildings look kind of odd as well. They are all thin and weird lol. It looks like you have to use cut pretty early in this game I hate cut so much, I hate all of the HMs its so pointless! UGH. I hate them lol.

Mudkip is working out pretty good, Water pokemon are always fun. I rarely pick grass, its normally the fire ones or the water ones. It seems like Grass and Water are pretty much the same, only water is more powerful...

Is it possible to get that Jirachi guy in this game? I remember the movie with him in it, I kind of liked him lol.

Also do you know what the deal with the premier ball is? Is it anything I should save or something?

Nice - yup it's Roxanne - you should have no problem beating her with Mudkip. I didn't do that much in the end - it'll just be a hunk of training for the second gym next...there's not that much to do between 1st and 2nd unfortunately...

Hehe yeah everything seems to be excessively thin As for cut - I don't think you ever HAVE to use it in the game - just to get items + little routes and stuff. You may as well catch something just to dump cut onto for now (like a Zigzagoon) so that you don't waste a move space on mudkip, who I think can learn it? The fact that you don't have a 6 pokemon team yet will be quite handy for carrying an HM slave around...Most HM's I hate to Fly is helpful but annoying but I must say that I love surf It's the best water attack IMO and being an HM you can freely teach it to everyone

I do like water and types and definately prefer Fire and Water to Grass - grass being one to usually rely on sleep/stunning techniques etc which isn't really what I use very often playing through the game

This is the game to get Jirachi on but you can only do it by buying some kind of cheat box thing that puts Jirachi into the game or something like that - it isn't something that I've done before so can't really help much there...

I have no idea what the premier ball is It doesn't seem to have any special use as far as I'm aware of lol

Edit: upon looking through a site - I've found that the premier ball is no better at catching anything than a pokeball - it's just that if you buy 10 pokeballs from a mart at one time, you get given one of these - sorta like a buy 10 get one free deal...so feel free to use it

Also, you'll soon be recieving the HM Flash (what joy! ) You'll need it for one cave straight away and then almost never again so be sure not to teach it to one of your main team members...or you could do what I did and just walked through the cave in the dark There's no trainers and if you just follow the wall of the cave, you get out eventually anyway

Yea I will get a zigzagoon to teach it cut, or a whimsur or whatever, I am kind of anti-zigzagoon lol. Just like I am anti-Rattata. Which is sad because I like Raccoons but I dont know what it is I just hate zigzagoon lol. Except the Pokemon I will always hate the most is Pikachu... ugh

Yea I beat the gym and in like five minutes I was at the next Gym i was like "What the heck?" lol. I have noticed that this game your pokemon level up pretty fast, I wonder if thats because there is no VS seeker or because the game is shorter than other pokemon games I thought it was just going to be at the beginning when my pokemon levels were low, but they are at around 17 now and they still level up after fainting around three pokemon. I am excited for the poke contests... I never really got into them before because I was so confused but I think I might try to do some this time.

Hehe yeah I'm not a rattata fan - I don't mind Zigzagoon but it has now been dropped from my team anyway after I caught another team member but yup good idea to just get some random thing for cut. Pikachu is a bit annoying - it's not really all that good either lol and yup it's almost because it's main character in the anime that I choose not to use it I suppose

I would never buy a pokemon - as you say they're not worth that much - it's a shame though cos that way I can never fill the pokedex I haven't seen that movie actually - I've only ever found the first 5...

Yup I had the same thing with the gyms...it's a shame there's not more trainers in the cave - just for training purposes. Have you still just got Mudkip and Taillow - well Marshtomp now actually, do you like it now that it's evolved? - if so then yes I expect you'll be training quickly - both of those two require a very low amount of experience to train It differs between different pokemon - a couple of my team are on the harder side and are certainly not training up quickly Good going to get them to 17 though - you'll have no problem again with the gym leader, being weak against wing attack I'm looking forward to the contests too - I did enjoy them before so yup I'll be trying them out again make sure you keep planting berries - you'll need them for pokeblocks if you're wanting to win the more difficult contests

My team are now all lvl 15 with the exception of Treecko who I raised another level to make it evolve and my newest team member who is still lvl 10 Have any new pokemon taken your fancy yet or is it still the two which you're liking?

I still only have Marshtomp and Taillow, I really do like Marshtomp hes kinda cute and I like his picture, he is kind of like a teddy bear in a way lol. Speaking of which is this the game that has the teddy bear with the moon on his face? I really like him and want him if he is in this game.

I caught a creepy looking white spider thing with green eyes and taught it cut. Its a bug type, I just caught it because I pretty much knew it would know cut.

I got the second badge very easily with Tailow. I actually died once because for some reason i wanted to see if peck would work well, and it didnt so i died lol. Then I went right back and beat the gym leader.

I just hate Pikachu because they over hype him on the show. And I hate Ash as well lol. I hate how he ALWAYS sticks his nose into peoples business. Like I just saw one of the newer ones the other day, and Dawn was saving her pokemon from Team Rocket and she was doing a good job. But then Ash comes running up going "PIKACHU THUNDERBOLT" UGH Ash! This is Dawns fight, stay AWAY! Why does he always have to do that, it pisses me off. I was excited when the pokemon advanced cartoon came out, because they were going to write Ash out and just have May I thought, but then they kept him. UGH. lol. I dont watch the cartoon that much anymore though, just when its on in the middle of the night on Cartoon Network.

I hope I find a Pokemon I like soon. None of them have really made me want to capture them.

Ah, I'm guessing that that is Nincada? Yup it does seem a very 'cutty' type - you could always train it it's got an interesting evolution actually, evolving into two separate pokemon, again something which I've never used before...I think it takes quite a whack of experience to raise though

It's a bit annoying with the berries at the moment where you haven't got fly or easy access to some of the routes making them a bit awkward to get at, but yup they do help

Lol oh dear, at least you won second time yup Taillow is very handy against that gym - in the end I just used my Ralts which had no trouble either

Yes I just got to slateport city and saved in the center, so we are at the same spot. Yea, I have been nicknaming but I only have two so it was easy lol.

I ended up catching an Abra and giving it flash, and then I just released it after that.

Yea the pokemon I caught was nincada. He evolves into something cool? Well Its too late now, I taught him cut and he is useless to me lol. I am getting worried though because I have two pokemon at level 20 and I am not very balanced lol. I need to find one I like soon and catch it.

i wish they would come out with the seasons on DVD that would be cool. I like team rocket as well being a Meowth fan lol. I liked them better in the early seasons though, when they were evil.... Now they are just used for comedy.

Ah kk yup good idea - I haven't actually caught an Abra yet I've just been catching things when the situation is right really rather than actually trying atm...was there anything good I missed in the cave? I did find a secret everstone in there though anyway

What it evolves into is the fastest pokemon of all if you don't count legendaries which is pretty nice I wouldn't expect it would learn that much though...but it'd certainly be different to train. In addition, when it evolves, if you have a spare space in your party and a spare pokeball, you will also gain another pokemon (shedninja) which has 1hp but it's power is that it only gets effected by types super effective against it (fire/flying/rock + dark I think) so yeah it's quite interesting Hmm, well there's still more to come yet and luckily for you, you'll be fine against the next 2 gyms as well but I would try and get something soon lol There's four new pokemon on the next route, with 3 more on the route after and an appearance from an oldie so you may find something yet... Nice one for getting yours to lvl 20 btw

Nope you didnt miss anything in the cave, the everstone was the only good thing. You did miss a couple pokeballs and a potion I think. But nothing important.

I kind of like the storyline of this game, its kind of refreshing! Even if it is awkward lol. I love how your parents dont care about you lol. Like if you havent seen your mother in so long she just goes. "Oh hi... Im watching tv." LOL So funny.

I dont like the pokenav thing, i normally have my Map as the select button so I can easily just hit select to get to the map. Its frusterating to not have that.

Anyway I really like your names for your pokemon, they are clever and very cool!

Yup two pokemon, that's right - it's the only one that does which is interesting and two more spots for you doubles your team so it may work well It's your choice if you want to train one - I don't know that much about them having not trained them myself

Yup, I do like the storyline in this game - it does seem to flow nicely and have more detail than fire red at least. The parents are always funny Mom is just comical, as you say not caring about you whatsoever, even though the character is only supposed to be about 10 years old or something, and then dad just abandons his home to go and live in the gym!

Town map is definately better - I haven't been using the pokenav at all really...it just seems less useful, and since I already know the layout of the land I don't really use the map bit either
