re: Help

I am tired so I wont post my team yet, I promise I will tomorrow though lol.

I found rock smash and played through some more of the game. I think I go to the mountain now right? I am excited, I cant wait to see what happens next in the storyline. My pokemon are still in the 20's level wize, its just so hard to level them up in this game! ARGH lol. Yea I am done with contests as well.

I need a fire pokemon, can you suggest one? will there be some up on the mountain? I dont want a numel or whatever because EVERYONE has one lol.

re: Help

You need a fire pokemon? Well you should consider getting a Torkoal. There a decent fire pokemon and there decent to try out for something new. But i'm guessing your doing a run through of Ruby/Sapphire?

re: Help

lol kk, np

Ah kk, I'm glad you found it - Yup the mountain will be the next place to visit, well kinda anyway - you come back to it again a bit later too...yup mine are all still in the 20's as well currently - to think that yours were 40 for Erika last time lol...I'll be very lucky to get mine to 30 for the fourth gym, I doubt they'll be that high even no vs seeker certainly limits the amount of training

As for fire pokemon, yup you have three choices when you enter fire path in the mountain - and if you don't want Numel, absolutely yes go with Torkoal - it is indeed decent The other choice is Slugma which frankly is terrible

And yup J_Pad's doing Ruby - I'm on Sapphire

re: Help

Oh ok, that's pretty cool. I was doing a run through of sapphire at the moment also, though now i'm up to the Elite Four and i am currently playing now. I'm up against the ice lady Glacia. On that note i just beat her though, she made my Breloom, Armaldo, Cradily and Dragonite faint. My only two pokemon left alive were my Gardveior and Kyogre. I traded over the Cradily and Dragonite from my emerald copy though.

re: Help

Ooo nice - ah yeah I always seem to struggle most with the ice type people, Lorelei always seems to give me a hard time too congrats for beating her though Nice team, yeah I wondering where those two came from I haven't trained either of the two fossils on this game before - are they any good for general game play? Breloom and Gardevoir will still be in my team at the end I expect too What lvls did you raise yours to for the league in the end? I feel that mine are going to be somewhat lower than they usually are on fire red + diamond...

re: Help

The fossils are actually pretty good. I've found that Armaldo is heavily attack based whereas Cradily is heavily based on both its defensive stats. I found a decent set for Armaldo was ancient power, hyper beam, brick break and water pulse. The only level up move it learns in the set though is ancient power. Breloom and Gardveior are amazing pokemon. On my Breloom i have Leech Seed, sludge bomb, mach punch and Sky Uppercut. His special attack stat was pathetic so i didn't bother with grass moves as there all special. On my Gardevior i had shadow ball, physchic, thunderbolt and future sight. Though i think as it levels up i will change physchic and future sight for the hypnosis dream eater combo.

re: Help

Ah ok - yup I think I'd go for Armaldo for a play-through just because I'd rather go all out attack than going for the more defensive techniques...that moveset sounds very decent for it, covers alot of types etc. It is annoying when you only get 1 of most tm's having to decide which pokemon you're going to give it too...I would have loved to teach my Breloom sludge bomb as you have done but I have a Crobat in my team as a flyer so it will be going to him instead (poison fang just isn't good enough) I really like Gardevoir and Breloom, definately two of the best - it is a shame about Brelooms sp att so yeah I'll probably end up getting rid of mega drain...although I will have a spare space without sludge bomb...maybe return. For Gardevoir I'll definately be going for Psychic and Thunderbolt and then maybe the hypnosis/dream eater...shadow ball will be going on my Slaking I think, with it being att rather than sp att I think? I always get muddled up with types now after the change in Diamond

re: Help

Yeh with tms that is where Emerald comes in handy ALOT with the cloning glitch alloying you to clone every item like tms, master balls, rare candies and heart scales etc. But if you can't give Loom sludge bomb your best off giving him return as he has a large attack stat so you shoudl abuse the power he has. Gardviors are great for there special attacking options. But i can't help but agree with the fact that the types muddle me up heaps aswell. It just gets to confusing. I much prefer the way attacks are sorted in D/P. It simplifies and allows for a lot of type versatility in a pokemon.

Update on Sapphire, i am now up to Steven and have just made his pokemon fainted. ^^.

re: Help

Nice! Aww ok I didn't get emerald, thinking it was just a copy of Sapphire...that glitch sounds extremely handy though. Yup I expect I'll go with Return and abuse it's power I'm sure Breloom should love me enough by now to use it to it's maximum potential Yup Garedevoirs sp att is almost up with Brelooms att so is very effective. I definately prefer how it works on diamond, as you say with there being physical and special versions of all types of attacks. Some pokemon up to then have been pretty poor due to having a high stat in one and only being able to learn moves in the other - Gyarados seems the best example - It is easier to understand too

Congrats! so you're all done That metagross of his is something I've had problems with before as well actually...well nice one, what are you going to do now?

re: Help

Well it's not a copy of sapphire, the storyline has been changed and made longer, they've added on a feature called the battle frontier which is dead set awesome! It's amazing fun and it's different from anything else we've seen before in pokemon games. But i have officially just beaten Steven. A lot easier then what i used to have against him. I used to struggle completely finding him to hard. His metagross is a pain in the ass though, he just meteor mashes the whole team which pretty much kills anything because of Metagross' insane attack and STAB.

Gyarados is a great exmaple of how things worked out good for some pokemon in the change. I mean he now has waterfall for water typing and he owns with it. But now i have finished Sapphire i don't know what i am going to do, maybe hunt around to obtain the pokerus virus.

re: Help

Oh right - I thought it would be very similar - nice! I may even have to get it then Battle frontier sounds great too
Nice one on the win Yeah that Metagross is such a pain - it does just completely wipe out your team with meteor mash and has a nice moveset to back it up if you've got something steel isn't any good against...and with it's strong defences he always seems to get the hyper potion or whatever on it too

Yup Gyarados is now one of the greats Kingler is another that benefitted from the change as well - pokerus sounds good, I've never found it as of yet though...remember to pick up your new Beldum now that you've finished the league That's the only trouble with Sapphire, not having anything to do really when you finish...

re: Help

Yeh i would recommend, my favourite pokemon game of them all! But his Metty does seem to have awesome defenses, for special and physical too. He can normally survive a super effective hit and hit back twice as hard.

Kingler did benefit from the changes although he still sucks pretty much. He has some handy moves. But i will collect the Beldum although in my Emerald i have a metagross with 405 attack. Perfectly Iv'd and Ev'd. But yeh Sapphires value sort of pretty much runs out after you complete the Elite Four. All you can really do is train up the Beldum which gets boring and then catch Rayquaza and the regis. Then once that is done it's pretty much finished.

re: Help

Ah ok then - I'll look out for it. Yup that thing just lives on and on...it's a bit of a tank really gamewise...just one as you say that can really hit back

Yup I agree it's still not that great. Nice Metagross! I still haven't really got the knack of IV's yet...it was only on my last Diamond game that I started looking into EV's really...The Regi's I usually get before the elite 4 but Rayquaza is something else I've never had...or the Latios/as thinking about it I suppose I've always just stopped after doing the elite 4...

re: Help

I see, yeh it does get quite boring after the Elite Four. I can agree when i only had sapphire i just used to restart. But Ivs are pretty easy to understand the base of. They just add more to stats and an IV of 31 is the highest and what you try to aim for when IV breeding. There simple once you get the whole idea about them. Just another addition to game mechanics which makes pokemon so much more in depth than what little kids think it is ^^.

re: Help

I think I get the idea of IV's...I have looked into them but just haven't really been bothered with using them as of yet since I don't play competitively or anything. To check IV's you need to make them a fairly decent level too don't you? which is something I've had trouble with never having enough rare candies to do it with....I do like making the movesets and things though - breeding moves across and such like is something I enjoy.
Yup there's so much more to the game really when you get right down into it...it certainly isn't focused around 10 year olds when you're looking at it like that
