It is indeed an up to date version of the original red game - it does have extra's - the sevii islands and you can in the end trade the newer pokemon from gold/silver and ruby/sapphire onto this game. Better graphics, more attacks etc -------------------

Yeah, this game is a very close remake of the original trio (Red, Blue/Green and Yellow) and such only Kanto and the new Sevii Islands are accessed. ------------------- | |
