I would get one the Starters then the three legendary birds then get the dogs , then the rest of the Lengendaries. Trust me in the end u might have 3 Articuno, 3 Moltres, 3Zapdos, 1 Venusaur,1 Charizard, 1 Blastoise, 1Ho-oh, 3 Deoxys and 1 Lugia and all the legendary dogs.

The only method of duplicating a Legendary Bird in that way would be to clone it, a technique which will probably not be present in this game.

Deoxys = Gameshark device

Maybe through Pokémon Colosseum or box you can try to duplication trick like in GSC and it would work. The new box system prevents the cheat from working in-game.

For some reason i would probably rather start of with bulbasaur for the challenge in raising it, but other tha tha Charmander kills all

Bulbasaur Levels Up the quickest, then Squirtle is in between, and Charmander is the slowest. Plus, remember that Ivysaur is capable Evolving four Levels earlier than Wartortle and Charmeleon.

The longer it takes to level up the better their stats will be in the end since the 'box trick' doesn't exist anymore.

Good points, Griffith Hawkins. In reality, you are somewhat correct. Bulbasaur would be the ideal Pokemon to go with, but there's just something about Plant Pokemon that people don't really like, or at least just me. I mean, how many Plant-type Pokemon do you see people using? Even though some of them are decent annoyers. That's why I always choose the Fire-type or Water-type starter. Also, lets not forget that all three starters will have difficulty at one point or another, hence the reason why there's 6 pokemon in a party.
