re: General Rate My Team Thread Version 2.0 |
quote Arcanine 194...A rather strange request, but I'll have a shot at it. The Baton Passer; Ninjask Ninjask@Leftovers Jolly Nature (+Speed, -Sp.Atk) EVs: 252 HP/129 Def/129 Sp.Def -Baton Pass -Sword's Dance -Substitute -Protect A very standard BPer from Netbattle. I've seen this thing countless times, and the only way to stop this thing is to KO it immediately, so if your cousins (or anyone else) are using something that can't do that, you're going to have a good start. Anyway, the concept behind this is simple; immediately use Substitute, then Protect if you think your enemy is going to attack you. Ninjask's Ability boosts it's speed each turn, so even when you're fending your opponent off, you're gaining an extra stat boost for when you BP. When you've used a few Sword's Dances, and lasted a few rounds with your Substitute intact, BP to your Physical Sweeper, and I've recommended... The Physical Sweeper; Tyranitar Tyranitar@Leftovers Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp.Atk) EVs: 26 HP/252 Atk/232 Speed -Dragon Dance -Earthquake -Brick Break/Aerial Ace -Rock Slide DD is there in case your Ninjask is... Incapacitated. Alternatively, you can use one of your own Physical Sweepers (i.e. Dragonite, Salamence, Metagross etc). First Tank; Blastoise Blastoise@Leftovers Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) EVs: 210 HP/120 Def/130 Sp.Def/50 Sp.Atk -Surf -Mirror Coat -Counter -Protect This thing is just great. Surf gives STAB, Protect lets you get another turn for Leftovers to work (or any other factor that's to your advantage, like your opponent suffering from Toxic, burns etc) and the other two require decent skills of anticipation from you. Second Tank; Umbreon Umbreon@Leftovers Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) EVs: 252 HP/129 Def/129 Sp.Def -Mean Look -Toxic -Confuse Ray -Wish/Substitute/Moonlight Use Mean Look first, then hammer away with Toxic and Confuse Ray. Pretty simple moveset, really. The annoyer; Crobat Crobat@Leftovers Jolly Nature (+Speed, -Sp.Atk) EVs: 252 HP/6 Sp.Def/252 Speed -Haze -Mean Look -Confuse Ray -Toxic Simple moveset, and if used properly, good results. Haze is an excellent move that eliminates all stat changes made by your enemy. I've seen this on NetBattle a lot; use Mean Look, then Haze, followed by either a Confuse Ray or Toxic, then switching out with another more resilient Pokemon. The Special Sweeper; Omastar Omastar@Leftovers Modest Nature (+Sp.Atk, -Atk) EVs: 136 HP/252 Sp.Atk/122 Sp.Def -Surf -Ice Beam -Hidden Power [Electric/Fire/Dark/Psychic] -Spikes/Toxic ...Don't see too many Omastars these days. One question you must be asking; "How's this sluggish thing going to be a Sweeper with THAT setup and Speed base stat?" Put simply, a little help from Ninjask. Rather than being a BPer for a Physical Sweeper, you can also use Ninjask, in this case, to boost speed and pass it over to Omastar, hence why the EV spread and Nature max out Sp.Atk as much as possible. It's a choice, really; open up with Ninjask, and then you can decide whether you want Tyranitar to get involved, or Omastar here. re: General Rate My Team Thread Version 2.0 |
quote Arcanine 194Metagross is absolutely fine. You can use any Physical Sweeper you want, like Groudon, Metagross, Dragonite, Tyranitar or Salamence. As for a moveset: Metagross@Leftovers Adamant Nature (+Atk, -Sp.Atk) EVs: 106 HP/252 Atk/62 Def/90 Sp.Def -Agility -Earthquake -Meteor Mash -Rock Slide/Sludge Bomb Now, because of Agility, no EVs are needed in Speed. Just use one Agility and then begin firing away; and that's why half the EVs are in HP and defences, so you can endure a few hits and then strike back. I'll go to the other thread now. ------------------- ![]() Visit Pokelude! My Pokemon Blog! (Sig courtesy of The Cheat King)

I've just answered the other thread for you.
quoteI suggested this: Ninjask@Leftovers Jolly Nature (+Speed, -Sp.Atk) EVs: 252 HP/129 Def/129 Sp.Def -Baton Pass -Sword's Dance -Substitute -Protect Timid works absolutely fine, it's the same as Jolly really. As for the moves; -Baton Pass (Learns as Ninjask at lvl. 45) -Sword's Dance (Learns as Ninjask at lvl. 25) -Substitute (FireRed/LeafGreen Tutor) -Protect (TM17) quoteI suggested this earlier (just for reference); Crobat@Leftovers Jolly Nature (+Speed, -Sp.Atk) EVs: 252 HP/6 Sp.Def/252 Speed -Haze -Mean Look -Confuse Ray -Toxic Ok, Timid is again perfectly fine. The moves; -Haze (Learns as Crobat at lvl. 56) -Mean Look (Learns as Crobat at lvl. 42) -Confuse Ray (Learns as Crobat at lvl. 28) -Toxic (TM 06) quoteOh, that isn't ideal. Rash (+Sp.Atk, -Sp.Def) might boost Sp.Atk, but all Pokemon need decent Defences. I really suggest you try again for a new one. quoteUnless you've made an Eevee happy at night and evolved it by levelling up with Rare Candies, I don't see how this Umbreon would work. Remember, if a Pokemon has fought before and gained EVs, you can't remove them unless you have Emerald. ------------------- ![]() Visit Pokelude! My Pokemon Blog! (Sig courtesy of The Cheat King)

re: General Rate My Team Thread Version 2.0 |
quote Arcanine 194Ok... Well, the HP stat is good, Attack doesn't make a difference, the Defence is a bit poor, so is the Sp.Atk, but the Sp.Def is fine. Speed is alright as well. Overall, it's a mediocre Omanyte, but if you really want to make it good, you'll have to re-breed Pokemon for better IVs. As a general rule, I aim for all essential stats to have IVs of at least 25, and non-essential (but handy) stats to have IVs of at least 20. For your Omanyte, I recommend the following: HP: 25 Atk: N/A - No preference Def: 20 Sp.Atk: 25 Sp.Def: 25 Speed: 20 ------------------- ![]() Visit Pokelude! My Pokemon Blog!
