Which Starter to Pick? |
|
I was wondering which starter I should choose. I know I am going to get a Nidoking, so I don't want another poison,so Vensaur is out. Also, I want a good legendary dog. I want Raikou, but Blastoise isn't very good. So, if I pick Charizard, I get Suicune, but that leaves two water weaknesses on my team. Do you see my dilemma?

Depends on your style really. I for example, heavily rely on my starter to deal damage, so I normally pick Squirtle, also because of his advantage against the first gym, especially since it's hard to get any other attacks from the other available pokemon that can do sufficient damage, like Squirtle's Water Gun.
Venusaur is probably one of the best grass pokemon, but he doesn't make for a good starter, since he lacks strength and has too many weaknesses to be too ridiculously useful when your team is Bulbasaur, Caterpie, & Pidgey. Bulbasaur is hard to use early on, but makes a nice status-effect guy or sunnybeamer later on. Charizard probably starts off the worst, but comes out the best, being one of the best fire pokemon. Charmander is weak against Brock & Misty, and has nothing on Surge. By that point though, it won't matter since you'll probably have a Geodude or something that is good against electric. I'd take Squirtle if you want to beat it fast, Charmander for a challenge, or Bulbasaur if you don't rely on your starter heavily, which is very hard to do early on. Hopefully, you'd get a Mankey & a Pikachu. ------------------- ![]()

That is not true. You don't use fly on Charizard, and if you did come down from fly, you might not be ohko with surf. Also, you teach it sunny day, to help with waters and to rip through anything with flamethrower. Anyways, I think Ill go with Charizard, since Blastoise does suck too much. To me, those 105 base sp defense, and 100 base defense, plus crap sp attack(Blastoise) does not even come close to 115 both defenses, and calm mind and 90 base special attack(Suicune). Plus, I can use my good ol' Charizard that I used back in the R/B/Y days.

It all depends on the trainer. Me I can make a slowking faster then a voltorb its really not that hard.
So basically the start you should get is the one that is best for you. If you dont really train your other pokemon that well go with charmander. If your just starting and need someone good aganist the first few badges go with bullby. If you a good trainer and you dont want the weak grass type or the over powered(and beatable) fire type go with the water type. -------------------

I never said he couldn't learn fly. But, that moveset is awful and you never teach poor ol' Zard Fly. His attack isnt good enough and Fly just sucks.

Fly can actually be good. And Zard is almost ALWAYS used as a physical sweeper, due to belly drum. Venesaur is, to be honest, a crappy Pokemon. Blastoise is an awesome Tank. Pick your choice: Crap, Physical sweeper, or tank.

I don't have the ability to get belly drum. I have a physical sweeper, Nidoking, and Fly does suck. Also, this is in game, not netbattle, so those strategiesa dont work so well.

quote Megaman10Venusaur is not crap. He has great stats, just a poor movepool & bad type. He can play the role of 'status-effector' pretty well, but's that's about it. He can also pull off sunnybeaming too. ------------------- ![]()
