if i cant trade from lg to ruby and i beat the elite 4 and have both gem plates and celio says i can use the time machine..does this mean my plug is broken or sumtin???

There's something wrong with your Link Cable I think. I recommend you try trading between your Ruby and another title you own (or a friend has) and see if it works. Basically trial and error; if none of the trades work, then your Link Cable is buggered. If your LeafGreen/Ruby doesn't trade, then it's the game that's broken. Also check to see if your Gameboys are fine. Again, it's all trial and error, testing everything.
