I have completed this game once, but now that I am trying to complete it a second time, I have forgotten how to get into Saffron city. The guard says:

"I'm on guard duty. Gee, I'm thirsty though! Oh' wait there, the road's closed."

I know you have to get some kind of drink - I think it is a tea, but I am not sure.

Does anyone know where I can get the drink, or who I can get it from?

go to the mansion where you get eevee. it's in the city with the big shopping center. there's an old lady who gives you a cup of tea. I hope you know which house I mean.

3. from the Dept. Store, go east until you find the house with an elderly Lady with alot of pokemon in her house. Thalk to her and she will give you the Tea Item to give to the guard.

In the old games you could give them any drink. So after that didnt' work for me, it took me forever to find the tea
