It's very addicting, fun, exciting, cool, awesome, interesting, and very straight foreword. It's the fact that it came out for the NES in 1985 that keeps this game popular. People love to play this game to get the feel of the 1980's inside of them. THis classic game is just too crazy. It never gets old.

this game is popular because it came free with the nes (the original package) and smb/duckhunt with the action set. it's a good game though. the main reason i have a nes.

i think people like it because it's simple and to the point. Get through the level, avoid enemies, kill them if you can. Go inside the fort and raise that gay little communist flag. Just do that, what, 16 times?

Super Mario Bros was pretty advanced stuff in it's day as well. It was one of the first, if not the first, side-scrolling video games ever created. Think of all the games that have followed that formula since. It all goes back to Super Mario.

THis game was the best of its time and It came in a dual pack with duck hunt. I mean thats two of the greatest games in one. ANd in my opinion no other shooting game is better than duck huunt.

Truthfully I think Mario Bros. Got so populatr becasue it was a change in style of gaming from all th Atari games. I mean don't get me wrong, the Atari was awesome and I love for starting the gaming revolution, but Mario Bros. Brought a new concept of gaming a new stly of gaming andset a new standard for games should be like. And that is why i think it got to be so popular.

yeah mario games are really popular lots of ppl that have a xbox are always saying mario isnt popular his something nintendo overly uses he only apperead in 2 games that are adventure games for the gamecube and about 6 games that are party games

also if nintendo didnt make mario where would all the other companies be sony will still be making dvds and tvs and microsoft will still be in there computer software if it wasnt for nintendo
heres something for the ppl that think mario is less popular then halo well actually it is said he is about 5 times popular then halo in a servey about 8 out 10 ppl new mario more then they new what halo was and also when halo was released it was dubbed to be the next best selling videogame when it was released halo sold 700,000 copies in its 1st month, nintendo then released super mario sunshine which astoneshly beat halo by a great pace in a week mario sunshine sold as much as halo did in a month and for the following year it was estimated to be 6 million copies sold thats an average 4 million copies more sold then halo which sold 2 million copies my point is mario is always gonna be there to be the greatest game icon ever to live from beging to end

it's popular for a number of reasons, first off because it's so intuitive. even people who were picking up a NES controller for the first time (adults included) could figure out how to operate Mario in a matter of minutes.

this game featured near perfect gameplay and anybody i repeat anybody could pick it up and learn it well in about 10 minutes

EVeryone knows this was the first Action game of its kind and yet its being played by everyone, I first played this game while 3 yrs old, by the age of 5 i beaten it all by myself, any ways, why well i say because it has a itian guy as the main charater, It's a-me- Mario

Getting a cheap NES is pretty easy. All you have to do is find one. The problem is finding one that still works.

Probably from Donkey Kong or the arcade game Mario Bros., which predated this game. Of course, neither of those resemble this game.
