I own the original cartridge game for the SNES.
In this game, whenever a enemy uses Shredder (for those of you that don't know, this is the move where pink light forms around each one of your characters) it does nothing. No damage, no status affects, nothing. Is it like this in all versions, or does mine just have a defect? Also, if it does do something, what is it? Some guides describe it as an incredibly damaging move. I think it's pathetic and designed to mess with you. ------------------- No matter what you accomplish in life, you will never be as awesome as Chuck Norris. | |

If I remember correctly, Shredder stops all of your positive 'status' effects from working (some armor abilities, along with boosts (e.g. Bracer, Geno's "Geno Boost"). It's not crippling, but can be a pain if you don't notice it and then your char's are suddenly taking huge damage (again).

Thanks but it doesn't really apply to me because when I play the game, I get at such a high level, I can use sheer brute force to reduce all my enemy's to coleslaw. I've played through whole games without even having to use a pick me up.

Yeah, it eliminates any beneficial status effects on the team. For example, if you used an ATTACK UP! or DEFENSE UP!, or any other boost like that.
