Grandia 2 PC Problems - READ HERE FIRST |
|
It is suggested by Ubisoft (makers of Grandia 2 for the PC) that if you are having problems with the game you should get the newest versions of Direct X as well as Windows Media Player.
If you are having trouble beating Milenia when you meet her, that is because you are supposed to lose to her. But if she will not cast Zap on you, I'm afraid you are out of luck. A suggestion to beat her it to defend the whole time, and hopefully she'll cast Burn on you, and then after a few turns she will cast Zap. All of you PC owners have to realize that this is the Dreamcast versions forum, so while we can help you with gameplay problems, we cannot help you with system problems. Hopefully Ubisoft will release a patch soon to fix the problems with it.

I noticed on the PC version, all the characters have ugly shadows (block like and it doesn't seem to be casted on the ground) .it's very irritating. Is it a game bug or is it my video card problem? Please help! Thanks!

if Milenia don't cast Zap, just open your saved game with a hexeditor, and find the byte at the adress B0 (it should have a value aprox 60-70 [in hex]) and overwrite it to a small number example: zero. Don't forget to write it back as soon as you can save again
There was a few game where i ovewrote the saved game, but this is the first, where i used it to make my party weaker Sorry about it, but i can't find another way to make Milenia cast zap.

I realise you've all got dreamcasts.... but since this is the only thing near to a grandia 2 pc edition forum I can find, i thought i would ask here in the vain hope of someone being able to help.
When the game goes to show a video, I just see a black screen, but hear the music. In the introduction, and on the airship like thing that's what happened. However, the videos at first sight of the Grania Cliffs worked... and videos with all my other games worked. I've got directx 8.1 installed so I'm not really sure of the problem... does ANYONE have any idea? Sorry again for posting this in a dreamcast forum.

Dunno, maybe your PC is just slow, I remember I couldn't see the cinemas of FF7 when I had a measly machine of 400 MHz...

Does anybody of you know when a PC patch is released ?
I'm having problems with the controls, I can't switch with <L and R> when I want to power up , so I only can only level or learn combat moves. Or is this somehow fixed different ?

A shadows solution but another problem. |
|
For those playing the PC version of Grandia II; I had the same problem with those ugly block shadows, but the become "nice" ground-dishes shadows when I switched to 1024x768. I don't know if this really fixes the problem, it simply worked to me.
But my problem (of course, there must always be a problem) is that in the Durham Cave (2) when Millenia "tries" to start (she does it automatically, sigh) her "Fallen Wings" attack, the program gets stuck in an almost black background with Millenia in a first plane. The music keeps playing but the game is stopped there. Thanks in advance!
