Well I've recently come across a copy of Grandia II for the PC, but I can't exactly get it to run properly. I'm not sure where the problem lies, but nothing that's been mentioned has helped in any way. My problem lies in the Grandia2 and GmConfig executes. I try to configure the game but then I get an error message. "GmConfig.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." and then it does so. It's the same for the NoCd exe. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not, but a step by step process on the instillation would be helpful, from beginning to end of course.

Sound issue here, I remember playing grandia II on the pc sometime back. Everything loaded fine, and I was able to finish the game without any hangs n stuff (lucky).

Then I started to poke around the files ( to look for the music and sound effects). I realized there are a lot of sounds (like running footstep, attack sound, etc) exists in the folder, but were never played during gameplay (fight scenes.) Some other sounds effects can be heard, like spell chanting, spell sounds etc. There was a post in the early forum pages who highlighted this issue too.

So my question is, any of you out there playing G2 hear the sounds (running, attack 'swoshh!') when in battle?

Im having trouble that I havent seen anyone else say they have.

I installed the game, and I go to open the game, and It just shows a picture of 3 of the characters in a battle scene, and then it crashes. I cant even see the logo screen or the start menu or anything.

any help please?

For me the game is crashing everytime a fight start, anyone knows how can i fix that?

so i got a different torrent of grandia 2, installed it and ran it. For some reason this one completely works. No video errors, freezing, problems with zap. The ONLY problem is that in the menu screen and such, it doesnt show an icon for what item im currently looking at. not much of a bother though.

I can hear the footsteps and some battle fx, but the characters never say 'yaa, take that, etc..' they also don't say anything when they get hit 'ouch, etc..' sounds are in the folder but arent playing, they probably made a typo in the filename, i guess the fix would be to know the correct name and manually edit the filename.

ok so wen i start the game it goes black at intro, right after 3 characters. But ppl say this k-lite codec thing will work, so i got that but wat settings do we have it on during install, just at default?

after digging the game out of my closet again, i tried installing it only to find that my data2.cab file was corrupted from too many scratches. i tried cleaning the disk and installing it multiple times but it still stalled at 50% due to a cyclical redundancy check.

i then downloaded a full version with the no cd crack and tried installing it. now when i try to install it using the fake or real disc i get an error before installation begins saying Access is Denied.

im trying to do this on a computer with vista.

any tips to get it running would be appreciated.

well i solved my previous problem but now when i start the game it opens to full screen but is black, then it closes.

i can hear most of the sounds but as for the sword attachs i can only hear them during skills except every now and then which i dont get it but it actually plays at times and i have not a slight clue as to why it does this

also for vista users here is what i did to get the game to work after i snooped around on the internet for 2-3 hours

but for this i will only be explaining how to get it to work with a downloaded copy of the game

1: go download download the patch for vista that fixes where a numerous list of games can ACTUALLY be played

2: i do not know if this would actually be reverent to this but after i had downloaded that i also went and downloaded a quicktime player that had a codec that could help ru the vids of the game.

3: go download the crack

and thats about it right there except before you play remember to set it in admin mode

alright. well now the game starts up. i choose new game and it fades out, goes to the Loading screen for a second. the loading image disappears and goes to just black. i try pressing f9 to skip a movie but it stays at the black screen.

OKAY. so after minimizing and maximizing the window, i can see slivers of the forest background that exists after the fmv in which ryudo fights the green monsters (which i skipped by hitting f9).

so now i think it's a resolution problem. i have a wide screen laptop that i bought this year and none of the resolutions in the config match the ratio of my laptop.

yet again, any help would be appreciated.

i tried loading someone elses save game.
it comes up perfectly fine in the room that they saved in, but as soon as i move to a different room it goes to a completely black screen again but with minimizing and maximizing i can see slivers of the background again.

Here's the fix for those of you that can't get the game started:


DL the grandia.2.10.eng.ind.nocd torrent pack and extract.

Follow the instructions in the readme and it will be playable.

Grandia freeze on the god birthplace when imo (the one attached on the wall) telling the story about the Granas
it's once again when played a movie, its not showing anything just sound only and after finished it just blank black screen

I got the game for PC and it's running, however I can not see what the enemy is doing for they actually get into the act phase.
