re: Grandia 2 PC Problems - READ HERE FIRST

Hey everyone,

I also have a problem. The game installs fine, but running the game is something else. I start it up and I directly get the message that something happend and that windows needs to terminate the game

I have already putt the EXE compatability to Win 98/ME still the same problem though.
Comp Specs: Pentium 4 2,9 Ghz, 1 Gig RAM, Geforce 6200, Win XP Home SP2
Anyone has any idea what could be wrong.

What does the error message say? Does it give any error codes or anything like that?

This is what it says.

AppName: grandia2.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: grandia2.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00158c99

There is more technical information, but that is big ass long.
There are 41 Modules given, mostly .dll
That is about 0.1% of the report, the rest is about

re: Grandia 2 PC Problems - READ HERE FIRST

ok guys do this, it works i just fixed mine like 10 seconds ago.

1st--- copy everything from CD2 into you Grandia 2 folder in the coressponding directories. (as stated above in my last post)

+this will fix the crash on start up+

2nd--- download this codec pack and do a default install.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

if it asks you to uninstall anything click YES

+this will fix the black video/audio problem+

and start playing.

If this doesnt work do a complete clean reinstall of the game and repeat steps 1 and 2.

also, if still not working try something other than a default install with the codec. I had an older version installed before with EVERYTHING ,not the default. The videos were black so i decided to download that one above (new version) and reinstall with default and it works. Yours may be different, although i doubt it, because I completely uninstalled my codec first anyway...

I use WinXP Sp2 Intel P4/Nvidia6600GT

strange, after putting up this post i went to play and guess what? IT DIDNT WORK! and all i did was open up firefox go to these forums and leave this post. And that caused it not to work?

neway.... reinstalled the codec like 4-5 times nothing... turned off themes and all the flashy stuff i got on for my Windows.... nothing... rebooted... nothing....so then...

I go into my Grandia 2 setup where u pick resolution, (someone said they worked at 800X600 so..) I changed my resolution to 800X600 sure enough they worked... then while the game was still running i alt-tabbed set it back to 1024X768 alt-f4 out of game and reloaded it and guess what? IT WORKED! tried multiple times after that and it hasnt broke yet. and its at 1024X768, so try that too.

(edit)

ok after leavin that least edit went back, it was broke again. done the 800X600 thing again. it worked... justh ave to do that every time. also i didnt ahve to change while ingame. Just set to 800X600 run game, alt-F4 change abck to 1024X768 run game. should work.

anyway im tired of helping you bastards im going to play lol

re: Grandia 2 PC Problems - READ HERE FIRST

The game runs only with default keys. Is it possible to change to custom keys any way without causing a corrupted config.cfg which causes grandia2.exe to crash at startup?

I already thought it was some winxp compability problem, but no, it's a bad config file...

re: Grandia 2 PC Problems - READ HERE FIRST

I have a problem with G2.
The game runs fine until the first fight with Melena. (Probably misspelled)
Anyway, when she is about to cast Zap, the game gets a runtime error and shutsdown.

Just in case there isn't any way to fix this, can someone provide me with a savegame? Thank you for your time.

For K-Lite code pack.

You have to tick the box that has the codec name "Indeo" next to it. I suggest that you uninstall all your codec on the computer before installing K-Lite as this can cause problems.

re: Grandia 2 PC Problems - READ HERE FIRST

a solution to the <learn magic> problem
it appears that button "a" and "s" on keyboard do not work..they work fine for the camera but not on the power up menu..quite annoying i wasted like around an hr only to have to quit since i got stuck on the magic tutorial..so yeah set ur rotate camera left/right keys to anything but "a" and "s" as far as i no..i tried o and p and it worked fine, i could power magic and abilities or if u have a usb controller that works 2.

I got one for you!

If I stop at an Inn (particularly the one in the ruined town near the beginning...) and sit everyone down to eat, at the end of the conversation I'll select the sleep icon over Ryudo's head. Then a text window with "HA" appears and the game locks up.

It's actually kinda funny...I mean, I know it's from an incompletely translated conversation option...one I could probably find and fix if I tried...but it really only seems to happen when I haven't saved for a while...like the game does it on purpose.
