I'll give you another hole. Whenever Ryudo and co. confront the people infected with the parts of Valmar, they transform into a Valmar manifestation of the parts. So why didn't Melfice turn into the Horns of Valmar? Instead he fought as himself. One more thing, the Claws of Valmar were not in the room of chaos, why?
Not really a hole... Melfice was already not purely human any more.... And the claws, if you read well you should have noticed that Melfice took them away and implented them into Tio... That implant took place in the automata production factory...

The hole could be how Melfice got in there while the gates were closed...

re: Hole in the story

No no no, what I mean is that in the Room of Chaos, you have to fight all (almost all) of Valmar's parts again. I understand if you do not have to fight the Horns of Valmar (they are in Ryudo), but where are the Claws of Valmar? Again, I must repeat that I'm talking about the absense of the claws in the Room of Chaos.

True but so is the body... Plus those bosses where no part of the story... Even stronger stated I wish they would have left them out since they rather spoil the game...

re: Hole in the story

Something like the Megaman X series, where you have to fight all the bosses again to reach the final boss. That didn't ruin the game. In fact, the supercharged Valmar parts provided the best challenge in the game, I almost lose to them (especially the Tongue of Valmar).

It's not that I can't beat them... That's not the problem...

But I think they could be better left out...

Well, I think they are better left in. Of course, this is my opinion so don't get all steamy over it.

I'll give you a rather big hole to think about. Before Mareg became insect chow, he prayed to Granas to take his chums to safety right? How the hell can Granas do that if he is dead? And to add dung to Mareg's stupidity, he should say "take us away to safety" instead of "take them away to safety". If he chose his words properly that time, he would still be alive and kicking more butts!
Mareg wanted to do the lonely hero thing, and we all know how do lonely heroes end up.

By the way - from what I understood, the gods were *created*, right? Using *modern tech*, right? RIGTH?
So why should we stop them from being partially machines? No?

If that'd be the case, there'd be absoolutely no problem in Granas listening to Mareg. After all they used that spaseship [the sword, it was a spaceship after all - take a close look while wathcing the intro cinematic - there were more of those] to fly around, and if it wasn't like I said they wouldn't be able to activate the desk lamp, not to mention the main engines. So if machines got involved [Tio?], should all that Granas' respond thing sound so unnatural?

Besides - it all adds up to form a nice storyline, even if painfully linear as this one.

re: Hole in the story

Everyone keeps saying that Grandia 2 has nothing to do with Grandia, but hasn't anyone else noticed that they're EXACTLY THE SAME GAME!? (except obviously for the fact that the first game is a hell of a lot better and has better characters and a more cengaging story and is actually worth playing, ) but gameplay-wise, they're practically identcal! The last section (inside Gaia and inside Valmar) are exactly the same! There ins't any difference! The weird thing is, despite this, Grandia remains an infinitely superior game, whereas Grandia 2 falls into the category of reasonably entertaining RPG. I was really excited about Grandia 2 when it came out, but it was a real disappointment for me

re: Hole in the story

I think Melfice was strong enough to keep the horn from completely controlling his body. Same with Millenia.

In Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon, Zavier says, "Being killed by a monster is considered an honor to a warrior..." That is what Mareg was doing.
