grandia 2 is so linear i played straight through it and theres no secrets or side quests

I haven't gotten this far, so I cannot confirm nor deny this. But word on the street is that there is a section where you fight dragons and ultimately get a Dragon Egg. I don't know if this area is OPTIONAL or SECRET.

Maybe someone here who has completed the game can tell us.

There is one little side thing before the end. I forget where, in some "Hills", but what you have to do is navigate a maze and collect the best items in the game + a egg and spell book.

But there's these dudes that use a spell that kills you instantly, some you have to avoid their patterns. You have to fight at least one of them. I died 3 times in that maze...

Where is this place as i never came across this and i have completed the game and im going through it again.

The is a twist, that i played up to a major thing was happening, then i turned it off. When I went through it again it had changed.

The special stage is availible near the end of the game, after that kingdom place gets invaded by monters. I can't remember the name - the one Roan rules. Anyhow, when you're meant to go to the Kingdom Tombs, the Raul Hills opens up again, and the special stage is located in area 1, which is the second area you'll come to. Like Yuraka said, the demons there can kill you in one move - BA-BOOM. Try to avoid these, rather than fight them. They only give 60 exp per demon, anyway.

Does anybody here have the first Grandia? If so, how about comin' to the Grandia forum as well? I think the first one is better than the second!

Here's somthing that you most likely know as well. If you do the minigames multiple times (nuts of light, arm wrestling) you can get weapons that are quite more powerful than what you would normally be able to get in that area. The less mistakes you make (wether or not you get perfect two to nothing victory in arm wrestling, or don't miss any nuts) the more powerful the item is. Example: Ice Sword for Ryudo, if you beat the arm wrestler twice perfectly. It's got plus 80 attack and crackle spell ability.

Oh and, what level did you guys end up as? I'm playing through it again right now. And I'm already level 44 for the fight with melfice. I've maxed out the chaos egg, and the mist egg so far. I hope to get all the eggs and skill books maxed. Anyone know which monsters have the most SC/MC?

You should go to raul hills right before the end. The items in "the maze of dragons" lol will help alot. eg the item that doubles exp you recive and the item that doubles sc you recive.
