Friendship

This was a weird type of "finisher" debuted in MK 2 (I think). Instead of the Fatality, you could make a character do something silly like offer up a birthday present, bake a cake, etc. These were designed to be rather funny above all others.

re: Friendship

Yeah, this was quite strange. I think Jax brought out skipping ropes for you and your opponent and you'd start skipping while Friendship was being said, and the letter blocks would make up the name. It also had corny music in the background, haha. I didn't use the friendship too often, it was stupid. Certainly not like the Mortal Kombat I know, I don't know where they got the idea for this one.

re: Friendship

I think they were just trying to be really funny or not make the game always seem so "serious", like in the first one. Or perhaps to please those pesky congressmen & parents complaining about all the blood & gore?

They took it out on the other games though, like Mortal Kombat 4 and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, so I think you're right in saying they did it for humour. Quite like the Babalities as well.
