Hello everyone. I was just wondering if someone could help me to identify an apparently obscure genesis game whose title I'm unable to remember (and it's bugging me a great deal by now). It's a pretty typical side-scrolling action game, with a heavy japanese tone to it. In it you star as some neat-looking, samurai/ninja/possibly-robotic dude who bears a striking resemblance (or so I think, at least; it's been over 10 years since I've played the game) to the anime character and b-movie star "THE GUYVER." The game's introduction has him, the ninja, walking towards you, the viewer, while playing some cheesy music. I believe the first level starts you out in some slummish urban area (Tokyo methinks), and the first miniboss you fight is some floating hindu-looking statue thingy. The true boss of the first level is some skull-headed monster, and you fight him for whatever reason enlarged the size of skyscrapers! It's kinda like godzilla (or that battle is at least). Then... I can't remember much else. I CAN clearly remember the part which I wasn't able to get past, in which you start the level being pursued by some huge, hideous dinosaur-demon face. He makes a dumb-sounding laugh at the beginning of the level which REALLY got on my nerves. You had to do some kind of turbo jump while his head followed you, and I could never figure out how to do it (the jump) consistently, leading to my doom off into a cliff. So I quit playing, and returned it soon afterwards to blockbuster. But now I want to know what the game was called, so that I can emulate (and hopefully beat) the friggin' thing. Sorry about the length of this post, and thanks in advance for any help. Oh, and forgive me for not having anything to do with Sonic 2; forums devoted to genesis games are few and far between, and I didn't know any other way to go about asking this, so I picked the most popular forum!

You know, there is a General Retro Sega Forum You'd definitely get a better response there than here. Especially since I don't think many, if any people here know what game you're talking about. I sure don't. @_@

Wow, I didn't expect replies so quickly! Thanks for your advice, Vitehite; I followed it and pasted my question to that forum as well. Oh, and I just remembered a few things... in the demo, it shows the cpu battling against a green-skinned, eyeball-headed serpent beast, in a desert, I think. It also showed you battling your "shadow version" arch-nemesis. Um, and the skull-kaiju thing had long purplish hair. And... the boss battles took place in a pseudo-3d perspective! Probably doesn't help, but, I'm sure someone out there knows what I'm talking about...

And that's because most people are too into some of the crappy, overrated new games like Halo and GTA:SA. >_<

Hmm... I'm 99.5% sure that the game was for the genesis (black manta was NES). And I'm definitely sure that it was NOT Shinobi. Shinobi was easily a better game, but like I said, I want to know this game for nostalgia value more than anything else. I'm able to recall now that the first level took place in Hong-Kong and not Tokyo. And I can remember thumbing through the instruction manual and reading the "storyline," which described your robot-ninja's battle against "Chaos," either the name of his nemesis or the concept of chaos in general... I was about 9 at the time, so it's a little grainy.

I believe it's Turican, it had him run at the title screen shooting much to the amusement of me and my friends.

Watch what you say about GTA: SA. That game is great. Halo maybe but not GTA: SA.

Now, where in my post did I say it was bad? I simply said it was overrated.
