Comparing Soul Calibur With Today's Generation Of 3D Fighting Games |
|
For me, Soul Calibur was the first fighting game to be considered by many, if not all, to be one of the most beautiful games ever to be released. Soul Calibur was the first fighting game in a long time to actually deserve being called groundbreaking. Soul Calibur was the first true Next-generation fighting game. -------------------

I also feel Soul Calibur was somewhat ahead of its time. And it definetly holds its throne as the king of fighting games, even with Tekken 4, and VF4 out. That is until Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance comes out -------------------

Soul Calibur definately still reigns supreme. I bought the Dreamcast for that game and I still don't regret it. I started playing it again recently and it still rocks. Just wish I had someone to play against everyonce in a while.

Soul Caliber is indeed a good 3D fighting game. The good thing about Soul Caliber games are the side step.(It's side step in my opinion is #1 compared to the other 3D fighters) I am also love the tekken. tekken tag to be exact. I think tekken 4 has better graphics but I think tekken tag is a better than tekken four. Why? two character's is better that one. And it also has more characters. Is it just me or is tekken four slower than tekken tag espesially when you duck.

Well, Bloke, walls weren't that popular yet when Soul Calibur was first released. It was released around late 1997 to 1998. -------------------

I just thought that it'd be really fun to throw someone around in an indoor car park at the top of a multi storey, and then throw them through a window, down 13 storeys and then smack them from up high with a sword stab or something.......AAAaaaahhhh - we can all dream

Well, I don't think they'd go that far as they wouldn't want to be labeled as DOA rip-offs. But the gameplay is always king in the Soul Calibur series, and I think that's more that enough. -------------------

Well, even if the game was sub-standard (which it's NOT), then the fact that i payed £7 would make me give it a damn good try.

And to think, this game was the first true next-gen fighting game, released on the home console in 1999, and it still holds its own against the competition, still has great graphics, and nothing can top the gameplay. -------------------

I think it still does. It plays faster than VF4, plays smoother than MK ------------------- Winter has returned to Neo. 8/2007.

True, true... But you've got to admit, even if Soul Calibur 2 has improved on what Soul Calibur offered, there was not much to improve from the first game since it was almost perfect gameplay-wise. -------------------
