SCHTHACK connection error No.102

Yesterday I tried for hours to connect to the private, free PSO server. I have PSO ep.1&2 for Gamecube and recently bought a working Broadband Adapter for the Gamecube as well. When I attempt to log on I get to a screen that says "Connecting with SCHTHACK" or something along those lines and then receive a message saying "No.102. There is a problem with your provider, please check your provider settings, etc."

I have found out by reading many posts on forums (including this one) that error No.102 is a problem for a lot of people. On those threads they complain about similar problems to me, but never have the actual solution. I will attempt to explain as accurately as I can how I have set up my Gamecube internet.

I have followed the connection instructions in SCHTHACK's connection guide for Gamecube except for the fact that I needed to set a static IP address because otherwise I received Error No.015 (but that's another story).

OK, so I connect my Gamecube directly to my Broadband modem (I know that they aren't technically called modems with broadband, but I'll call it that anyway). I have already checked using command prompt the static IP address for that modem by typing ipconfig /all (by doing this I received the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway for what the computer calls "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection"). I entered these three strings of numbers into the part of the Network Settings section of PSO where you select to manually enter an IP address rather than automatically get assigned one by DHCP.

I then pinged a couple of DNS's and entered schtserv's adderss as the primary DNS and I can't remember which other ones I used, but I used lots. I tried to connect using these settings, but received the above error message.

I have tried a large number of combinations of DNS addresses, including just entering one address into primary, trying all of the DNS addresses that people recommend, etc. but to no avail. I cannot get the Gamecube to connect to the server.

Please can somebody help me! I lost hope a couple of weeks ago of ever playing PSO online again when I heard that the servers had gone down, but now I have the opportunity to do just this but can't connect! Please help.

Polite Notice - please don't reply to this post saying "Use these DNS addresses because they work for me" or "Have you tried Captain N's DNS address?" Yes I have. I would like to know if the problem is on my end or on the servers' ends. If someone has gone through the same problem as me and knows how to fix it please let me know.

re: SCHTHACK connection error No.102

Not a good issue at all. I know its been ongoing for long time and its part of the mass problem schthack server community is having right now with not enough ppl on the server playing gamecube. Its not fair I know but most of what the guides say is out of date. The main ip is absolutely no good for connections. At all unless your on pc and using the online.exe client which might not even be patched for that ip it might be patching another, who knows its all locked down in a login script. I used to host my own dns long time ago and ran a dreamcast/pc v2 server. I am also trying to get 2 of my home gamecubes to come up on the servers. So far I have only found one dns ip address that will reliably let me into the servers all of the time. Unfortuanetly it is the Captain N one only (65.12.199.46) but it has been working for all of my gamecubes with either pso or pso+ so far. That might change if the dns suddenly goes down. But to the best of my knowledge the main ip on the website main page is not working for connections. I am howerver thinking about trying another ip address that I found in on this sites guide which is pinging but as of this writing I have not tried it. That ip is from http://s7.zetaboards.com/PSO_SERVER_HOME/topic/282739/1/
and it is 208.69.57.87 which pings btw. dont ping Gsproduc.ath.cx and use that ip address 209.17.170.137 it wont resolve nor will it connect your gamecube. I have read the guide both places calling itself the ultimate gamecube connection guide on both schthack forums and the above mentioned place. I do not understand why they are making the dns / ip address thing so blantantly use these to get and they not work. Its obvious that not everbody is going to trick around with stuff as much as I would to see what plays and what doesn't. They need to make the guide on the main website connection page alot simpliar by updating the connection ip's each time they change. If they do that much alot of this shit will not be comming up on message boards saying I cannot connect.

Thanks for the advice, but I tried your IP addresses but it didn't work. Any other ideas?

re: SCHTHACK connection error No.102

Please do me a favor real quick, Please post the exact ip address you are putting in the gamecubes dns entry. If you are using two then list two. As for your static ip address for the cube thats kosher. I use one as well so I can keep up where my cube is on my network. I do however need to clarify one thing. Are you cabling your cube straight to a router and going out broadband i.e. cable modem or dsl. Meaning you have a router that can give out ip address's but you choose to use static, and it also has a built in switch wich alows more then one pc to go online at the same time. Sorry if this sounds basic but I need to know this info to further help you out. Thanks.
