quote IscariotYeah I'm the same way. But for some reason if you went to a Radiohead message board and asked about HTTT you would get comments like that. ------------------- And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?

There There as well is just fantastic.
Regarding Kid A and Amnesiac, I used to hate them. I was into OK Computer, The Bends and Pablo Honey to a lesser extent, and I just couldn't stand Kid A and Amnesiac. In fact, National Anthem is one of my favourite songs at the minute and I absolutely despised it when I first heard it D: They grow on you imo, I can't get enough of Kid A now. Top class songs on there, especially Optimistic. In Rainbows is also top of my playlist. ------------------- | |

Yeah, There There is great. Live it was incredible. There are tons of great songs on HTTT...2+2=5, A Wolf at the Door, Scatterbrain, We Suck Young Blood, etc.
I always loved Kid A and Amnesiac since the first time I heard them. Maybe its just cause I was already used to music a little weird like that and I didn't have it in my head what Radiohead was 'supposed' to sound like. Hearing little pieces of 2+2=5 and The National Anthem are what convinced me to buy Radiohead albums. ------------------- And did we tell you the name of the game, boy?

That would have been pretty epic. They didn't play that one when I went, but we did get A Wolf at the Door, so I'm not complaining.

So... am I the only one who just doesn't understand what the big deal about Radiohead is? I mean, I've yet to hear anything really all that impressive from these guys and yet everybody raves on them. So I'll give 500 internet coolness to anyone who can change my mind about radiohead.
------------------- Well all my life this music saved me, I can't afford no therapy. My frustration, it needs release, so cut me open and hear me bleed. Playing punk, keeps me sane, I don't need drugs to numb the pain. --The Unseen-- | |

re: Radiohead [II] |
quote AnonymousGuyWell you are of course missing out on the fact that most people have never even heard good music until Pitchfork, or NME has told them what to listen to. Then they hear some "progressive element" in Radiohead's music and think it is the best shit since sliced bread. Now you have a bunch of people praising the hell out of a band wherever they go instead of looking for new bands that happen not to be overblown by the media. It makes people think feel/look good when they can go around telling everyone how they have the brain capacity and intellect to recognize Jazz influence on that "one song on Kid A". Oh and apparently they are really good live. I myself have 6 of their albums, together with the fact that my flatmtes play them 24/7. I have come to conclusion that they are pretty average. I do not have a slightest idea just like you, why they are so globally bummed. Their "progressive elements" are not really that impressive. Their catchy songs, and pretty cool videos are the only thing that makes me come back to them. After 4 songs into each album they just bore me to death, or to be exact I get tired of Thom Yorke's wailing. Like I said before, great to relax to but more often enough I have better music in my Library which does it better. ------------------- ![]() | |

quote IcedevilNME? Just because I love Radiohead and more "mainstream" artists doesn't mean that I'm a whore to that piece of shit magazine. Every band has fanboys that hold them up as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Personally I enjoy Radioheads music because it still sounds fresh whenever I listen to it. I admit I'm pretty bored by The Bends these days but there are still some great songs in there. If you don't like them, fine with me. I'm not going to try and change your mind because tbh, I couldn't care less. I'll keep listening and I'll keep seeing them live because I enjoy everything about them as a band. quote IcedevilForgive me for staying loyal to a band I've liked for a long time. ------------------- | |

I really like Radiohead and I went to see them yesterday (although I much preferred them at Hammersmith) but I do agree with what Icedevil's said a lot. I much more appreciate none mainstream bands such as Rolo Tamassi or w/e

I'm not going to presume you guys are like this, but a lot of the people that I know that are into all the bands that few people have heard of, non-mainstream, whatever, generally end up hating them as soon as they hit it big. I tend to find a band when they're relatively unknown and I'll keep buying their stuff because I wanna see what they keep producing.

Yeah, if a band gets a little more popular because of the fact that they are good, then thats fine, even though that means inevitably mroe idiots will start listening to them. But if they get popular by 'selling out'. Not cool.

If yous havnt already, listen to 'Thou Shalt Always Kill' by Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Its quite relevant to this conversation.
Contains lines such as: 'Thou shalt not read NME' 'Thou shalt not stop liking a band just because they've become popular' 'Thou shalt not put musicians or recording artists on ridiculous pedestals, no matter how great they are or were.... RADIOHEAD- just a band' Ps - I like Radiohead ------------------- | |
