Cage the Elephant |

Cage The Elephant ![]() Bowling Green, Kentucky is a small town in the American South best known for manufacturing Chevrolet Corvettes, Fruit Of The Loom underwear, and, with Cage The Elephant – thunderous rock'n'roll. CTE are - Matt Schultz (vocals), his brother Brad (guitar), Daniel Titchenor (bass), Lincoln Parish (guitar) and Jared Champion (drums) I did have a scan through the Index and couldn't find a dedicated thread for them, and felt they deserved one. I'm mainly into house and trance music, but came across Cage The Elephant when I was at work listening to Radio 1, they were the featured band for the week and were (are?) relatively unheard of. I loved their song Ain't No Rest For The Wicked, check some of their stuff out if you haven't yet. -------------------

I wasn't sure what to think of these guys when I heard their first single quite a while back, thought they'd be quite good. But after their new one (in that first post) I'm not so sure. Too indie.

I really like them, their kinda like the Arctic Monkeys sometimes. They have grown on me the last few weeks. Matt Shultz has something about him that i like.

Just recently heard "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" and so far I like what I've heard from these guys. Definitely gonna need to check out the rest of the album, but if it's all similar to "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" then I should be in for a treat. They have a very Raconteurs-esque sound that I am particularly fond of.

Damn. Lack of posts for a top band. Pretty consistent album and agree with the comment about the Racounteurs feel they have, which can only be a good thing.

"Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" is played quite often on the local rock radio station here and I like it a lot. I'll definitely check out more of their music.

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked is a great indie rock track but having given the album a play-through on Spotify and having caught half their set at the Dot-To-Dot Festival in Bristol I can't say I'm sold on the band.
What they do - high energy, verging on shambolic indie rock reminiscent of The Raconteurs and The Arctic Monkeys - they do well. But over the length of the album I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed. The Raconteurs and The Artic Monkeys are great bands because of how smart they are lyrically and the depth and variety in the song writing, two things which are lacking in Cage The Elephant's debut album. Don't get me wrong, they're a solid band, just nothing special personally speaking. -------------------

quote The DaveAnd has quickly become one of the most overplayed songs on the radio around here. The song was decent when I first heard it but the amount of repetitiveness of the stations has made it very annoying. I hate the radio. ------------------- Don't these talking monkeys know....

Haha. I was so happy that they were on that commercial. They are a pretty good band. But that song has been ruined.

I liked "No Rest For the Wicked" but it took a couple listens before I really liked it. Then I heard "In One Ear" and that sold me. Great song.
I was actually listening to them when I found this thread. Crazy. ------------------- ![]()

Back Against The Wall is still an appealing track. I quite enjoy that one a lot more than Ain't No Rest For The Wicked. I've heard that song a lot and it got old very quickly. I think this dude has a really interesting voice .
