The most recent one is probably the new Kings of Leon album, Only By The Night.
I didn't really like Because of the Times, and kinda went into the new album thinking that it wouldn't be that good. I wanted them to go back to Aha Shake and YAYMH kinda style. But after giving it a few listens i love it, it's amazing. Use Somebody and Sex On Fire are still sooo overplayed, but I Want You could be one of my favourite KOL songs ever. ------------------- ![]()

Ride The Lightning by Metallica. I had only heard Metallica's more melodic stuff before that (like 'Enter Sandman'), and so I was shocked to put this one on and hear thrash firing off at all cylinders, a genre which I didn't really like then.
However, after several listens I soon began to love it, and it's now one of my favourite albums ever - and IMO Metallica's best work. ------------------- ![]() EXCLUSIVELY on Playstation 3!

Many albums take me a few spins to fully appreciate, though that's because I'm not listening that closely the first time. Scum by Napalm Death was probably the most trouble for me, though. It was the first grindcore I had heard and I thought it was boring and just a wall of noise. As gave it more of a chance, though, and started picking apart that wall of noise, I began to love it and, soon enough, checked out some more of the genre.

Minutes to Midnight by Linkin Park.
LP is my favorite band and when I heard the album I was like..."Wuuuuuh???" But then relistening and relistening, most of the songs on the albums are some of my favorite songs of theirs. Especially In Peices, Given Up, Leave Out All The Rest and What I've Done. ------------------- ![]()

Interesting to see that Grace ended up in this thread, as I find it hard to imagine being in anything but love with it on first listen!
Sign o' the Times, by Prince. I think that I came in expecting the same fist-pumping, sweat-laden hooks as found on 1999 and Purple Rain, but boy was a surprised! It's a huge maturity for Prince after having departed from his band, and it definitely contains some of his most well-written and cleverly produced tracks. -------------------

quote Taker4everSame thing happened with me when I first listened to Kill Em All. ANYWAY, I found Cryptopsy's "None So Vile" hard to get into, mostly because it was my first Death Metal album. Eventually, it became one of my top favorite Death Metal albums. Of course, I don't do this kind of stuff anymore because I don't feel I should have to listen to music I don't like to end up liking it, unless I've never heard of that sort of music before (such as a first Trip-Hop song - just give me some time to get into it. If I'm familiar with something and I don't like it, *bleep* off, I'm not going to like it). -------------------
