I'm yet to listen to the newer songs that are surfacing online, but if the new album is more like Start Something and less like Liberation Transmission, it should make for good listening.

First off gotta say, It's Not The End Of The World is a ridiculously weak ass single! They've been banging on about how this new album is alot darker and they got rid of all their poppy tunes. WTF?! I just don't think they've done themselves any favours at all by making this their 1st single.
Personally I think The Dead(Fighting For)* would have been a far stronger single. A live version is on YouTube, so check it out Please don't get me wrong I do like the new single, it's just after a 3 year wait I was expecting something a little be more ![]() ------------------- | Oh make my blood thump 7,8,9. Agreed...I've actually sort of stopped caring at the moment...Although I'll pay more attention in January when the album actually comes out and I'll probably enjoy it...I guess they have to try and go a bit more mainstream for the first single...But I'm sort of avoiding it so I can judge the album as a whole when it comes out...

The thing is that single is "pop" like but it's much darker than any single they have released since they started releasing songs like "Last Summer". Lostprophets are hardly going to release a song like "Next Stop Atrocity" or "Destroyer" as a single with it's screamed verses and abrasive sound. They didn't even do that when they were Nu-Metal they saved the songs like "The Handsome Life of Swing" and "Kobrakai" to the albums, never dared release them as singles.

Ok fair point, most of what your saying is true.
It's basically safe to assume that Lostprophets are trying to look like something they are not, to reach a wider audience and thus gain more pennies! I mean that's what I kinda take from what you've said Daweii. They'd gain a lot more respect if they opted for the heavier tracks. As for this single being darker than pervious, can't say I agree. The only time it get's dark (and good!) is towards the end. Uhhh don't know why but Lostprophets are just kinda annoying me at the moment. Just wanna hear the whole album, instead of judging that crappy single Only reason why I'm so passionate about this is because they are my favourite band and have been for many years ------------------- | Oh make my blood thump 7,8,9. I understand that. I mean singles are always the weakest track on an album for most bands. I am personally looking forward to how far they go with the whole Refused influence on the album. They used to be one hell of a Hardcore Punk band very heavy, very metal. If Lostprophets can capture even a tiny bit of Refused's sound then this album will be a heavy one. Heres hoping anyway, I am tired of the ultra pop rock sound they seem to have opted for on Liberation Transmission even a slightly darker sound will please me.

So,we've got a builder fixing our shower at the moment, and he has his radio on while he works...This morning I heard It's Not The End Of The World,But I Can See It From Here come on just before I left...The quality wasn't great and it was only the second time I've heard it I guess...But I'd say it was alright but not amazing, compared to their previous work...I then thought about how I wished they could release a single like Last Train Home or something like that again or Last Summer if they're going to release a single...I mean I love Lostprophets,or have done at least, and I've seen them live twice...But when I went on to listen to Start Something in full for the first time in nearly 3 years,it just made me realise that, quite frankly,if they release anything that's even half as good as that album,I'll be impressed and somewhat surprised
Edit: Listened to it again...It grew on me a bit...I still don't think the album will be anything like Start Something but I'll still try and see and wait till I can hear it in it's entirety to make a decision...A bit anxious...But I'll wait and see... 17 show UK Tour has been announced for February next year...Tickets going on sale on Friday for those who are interested...Actually listened to them a fair bit in the last couple of days but I don't think I'll be going to be honest...Although I've wondered about seeing at the Academy before...Especially the new one...But I don't think I have the interest in them at the moment quite frankly...Maybe the new album will come out and blow my mind and I might regret it...But I don't think I can be bothered booking this far in advance at the moment...Tickets will probably sell out pretty much immediately anyway...So I'll just wait and see what the album's like around the same time I think...
