What would you Rush fans say is their best album?

Definitely Moving Pictures. But 2112 is in a close second though.

Yeah, Moving Pictures is absolutely their best ("Limelight" is the best Rush song IMO - love that guitar intro). I really like Permanent Waves, though, too. 2112, well, that's debatable. Sure, it's great, but not their best. Don't get me wrong, I love all their albums and 2112 is no exception, but they have better ones IMO.

I love Rush right now. I just bought the latter mentoined album just today and I'm trying to get all their albums. They're probably my favorite band right now, right behind Alter Bridge

The thing I love about Rush is their fantastic musicianship. As stated earlier in the thread, watching Lee play multiple instruments at the same time is just amazing. And Peart's drumming is just wow, and I really like his lyrics (though he has often been criticised as one of the worst lyricists of all time; I highly disagree). And don't get me started on how brilliant of a guitarist Lifeson is. Just an overall awesome band

Moving Pictures is good.
2112 is good.
The 'Rush in Rio' 3CD set is really good. Its basically a greateset hits.
Gold is also good. Its a greatest hits collection that just came out.

IMO, Snakes and Arrows is really good too (theyre newest)

Saw Rush at the Mega concert known as Sars Stock, Good music.

My favorite song is La Villa Strangiato it's off of Hemipheres. The drums in this song are un-f-n-believable, how this man still has wrists is beyond me.

^Wurd and the guitar riffs in that song are awesome too. The intro slays.

I have to say that until this week I'd never really listened to Rush properly...Someone bought me their Moving Pictures album seemingly years and years ago and I don't think I was quite sure what to think at the time and didn't really take it in properly...Anyway...I'd kept the CD in my collection and earlier this week I decided to go through a few of the CDs I'd never listened to properly and see what I thought of them now...And I have to say that I'm hooked! I really can't stop listening to it...The more I listen to it the more I like it, and I've reached the point where I'd want to try and check out some more of their work...However obviously trying to look at their discography or something, they have so many albums over the years that I really don't know where to start, and I've heard quite a few people saying that Moving Pictures is probably their best album so I'm not really sure where to go from here...I gather that they kept changing styles at various points in their career and that Moving Pictures was that last of that particular genre or something if you like, or at least that's what I gathered from having a quick look on Wiki...So I'm assuming I need to go further back in time to find some similar work...I think their album before that was called Permanent Waves or something,is that right? Would that be a good place to start or does anyone else have any other recommendations...Thanks
