re: General GBA News/Announcements

Well I was passing by a site about gba and I found these two articles.

quote
Press Release: Torus Takes 3-D Gaming to a new level on the Game Boy® Advance.
The team from Torus Games, responsible for producing the world's best First Person Shooter engine for Nintendo Game Boy® Advance, is now bending its amazing talents towards producing a world first - a fast, powerful 3-D engine for the handheld console.

Moto-X - The engine's first application:
Moto-X, a motocross racing game, is Torus' first application of the powerful engine, incorporating loads of motorcycle tricks, checkpoint racing, and free-roaming terrain. Over hills of snow, mud, dirt and rocks, the player races against computer and human opponents (via Game Boy Advance Game Link cable) in a variety of tournaments. With money earned from winning races and performing tricks, the player upgrades bikes and gear to improve performance and speed. Moto-X is a fast-paced racing challenge - without limits!

Potential applications:
-Vehicle racing: motorbikes, cars, monster trucks, dune buggies;
-Helicopter combat, flight simulation.
-Golf: rolling hills, sheer traps;
-Snowboarding, skiing, extreme sports.
-First Person Action or RPG Games set in outdoor environments.

Technical Information:
-Real-time, 3-D landscape rendering.
-An incredible frame rate of 20 frames per second!
-Vertical textures, perfect for detailed realism
-A completely free-roaming environment - go anywhere!
-Static light mapping, applied from imported light maps.
-Multiplayer Mode, with simultaneous, linked play for up to 4 players.
I though Ill post this one because it talks about the graphics of the gba.

quote
As you might know, Hideo Kojima is the creator of the very popular series Metal Gear Solid. Now he's bringing a game to Nintendo's portable machine, Game Boy Advance. But the game has nothing to do with Metal Gear Solid, it's a sequal to a RPG serie that's only been released in Japan. The thing that makes this game different from every other game is that it will use solar power, the more light on your cartridge the more powerfull your character will be. It might be hard for GBA SP gamers to play this game since the cartridge turns down but then again, you could always place a mirror under the system. Even though it hasn't been announced that the game will be released further than Japan it's very likely that it will since Konami has been sending pics of it to various GBA sites.
This one is my favorite of the two because it would be cool to use the sun to charge up your charackters.

I know these are games but both have to do with gba so I posted it here.

re: General GBA News/Announcements

This is the best news so far (I think):

quote
Yes guys, in an interview with Miyamoto on IGN.com, Miyamoto admitted that the next Game Boy is already under way. This does not mean that it will be released soon, because GameCube's sequal is also under way and is aimed to 2005 release.

Now, I'm hoping that the next Game Boy will feature better graphics than the N64 did although I don't think it will match up to PS2's graphics. We'll bring news on the coming system as soon as news arrive.

This is really good. If the next gb is really going to have n64 graphics now that would be cool.

re: General GBA News and Announcements

On Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live they said that Atari is going out of bussines. They also made a joke saying when ask for comments the people at Atari responded by making the sound where in one of there games ment you lost.

Also on Fox News Channel I read on the bottem of the Screen that Sega is making cuts in workers. I think more than 20% were cut off.

new news on the next gb:

quote
Nintendo Partners with ATI
The two companies enter another hardware agreement. The next Game Boy, perhaps?
March 04, 2003 - Graphics chipmaker ATI Technologies today announced that it has entered a "technology development agreement" with Nintendo Co. Ltd. for use in unspecified Nintendo products.
"ATI has had an excellent relationship with Nintendo for many years," said David Orton, President and Chief Operating Officer, ATI Technologies Inc. "We are pleased to enter into this major technology development agreement with Nintendo."
ATI in 2000 acquired ArtX, which designed the graphics chipset (codenamed "Flipper") for GameCube. ATI also designs the Radeon PC graphics card series, which ranks in the top tier in terms of power and performance in today's PC games.
While it is almost certain that the company's latest partnership with Nintendo is to create the graphics chipset for the successor to GameCube, it's not unheard of that this partnership may be for the Game Boy Advance successor. Nintendo has already stated officially that one is in development.

This is cool

quote Upwire.com
Miyamoto then went on to tell of his desire to bring the old Star Fox 2 to Game Boy Advance, a game which never made it to shelves. A SNES version was started way back when, but was never completed, and Miyamoto thinks that the GBA is the perfect way to bring back Fox McCloud and buddies.

LONDON, March 10th, 2003 - Thrustmaster is pleased to announce the release of three accessories for Game Boy Advance SP, Nintendo's latest handheld console:

Thrustmaster Starter Pack
Thrustmaster Carry Bag
Thrustmaster Protector Pouch

The three accessories will be available in Europe at the end of March 2003, to coincide with the GBA SP's release.

"The launch of a new console is always a great event within the gaming community," explains Jocelyn Denis, Worldwide Product Manager at Thrustmaster. "Thrustmaster has always been committed to offering the very best and most innovative accessories to help gamers get the most out of their consoles and increase their gaming fun. Thrustmaster Starter Pack, the Carry Bag and the Protector Pouch are guaranteed to be 'must haves' for any GBA SP owner."

Thrustmaster Starter Pack
Thrustmaster Starter Pack is an essential companion to the Game Boy Advance SP, incorporating 5 useful accessories.

The attractive silver protector bag helps to prevent damage to the console, with enough storage space for game cartridges and headphones. Its belt clip allows gamers to safely and conveniently transport their system while providing easy access with the GBA SP inside the bag. Two cartridge cases are also included in the Starter Pack.

The link cable allows for head-to-head gaming with a friend, and supports up to 4 players with additional link cables (not included) plugged into its hub.

Last but not least, the pack includes a pair of high-quality headphones and the required headphone cable adapter. Gamers can play quietly in any environment while enjoying the very best sound possible.

Thrustmaster Carry Bag
Thrustmaster Carry Bag is an incredibly convenient protection and storage accessory designed with the spirit and visual appeal of the Game Boy Advance SP in mind.

Thrustmaster Carry Bag is compact, given its high storage capacity, with room for the GBA SP console, game cartridges, cables and headphones, plus the AC power adapter. Its padded design and durable adjustable strap make it the ideal transportation solution.

Thrustmaster Protector Pouch
With the trend of protection pouches for mobile phones in mind, Thrustmaster can also offer owners of the compact GBA SP console a stylish Protector Pouch.

Made of a soft but durable protective material, it envelopes the console and allows the gamer to play while keeping the console inside. The Protector Pouch can be clipped to the belt for transportation anywhere, just like a mobile phone.

More NEWS:

Nintendo still haven't released any information regarding the previously announced Donkey Kong Country, so recently I've been doing a little digging for information surrounding the title. All I've found is the provisional box art, which features similar artwork (although the characters are in a different position) to the SNES game of the same name. The cover also features the Rare logo, so it's looking extremely likely that the game will be a port of the original (which was also released on the Game Boy Color a couple of years ago). I repeat, Nintendo haven't confirmed any of this, so it is purely speculation. Check back soon for some more solid information!
