re: GBA News and Announcements

There were a couple of interesting games revealed for the GBA at E3. Those games incude Mario and Luigi a RPG game staring your favorite plumbers Mario and Luigi. From the pictures I've seen it looks a little like the battle system in Paper Mario. A Fire Emblem game (Fire Eblem is coming out of Japan) is coming out, and a new Pokemon Pinball game. These aren't the only games coming out on GBA only the ones NP had something in it about.

quote Nintendo Press release
The Game Boy® Advance SP is the hottest selling video game system in Canada, selling over 100,000 units in less than ten weeks since launch on March 22. Nintendo of Canada Ltd. is planning to build on that success with the
launch of two new colours on September 8, 2003. Onyx (black) and Flame (copper red) will be joining the current Platinum and Cobalt colours for a suggested retail price of $149.95

Nintendo Kicks Pirate Arse!

quote IGN Pocket
Lik Sang will pay more than $600,000 in damages for Game Boy counterfeiting.

June 19, 2003 - The High Court of Hong Kong has ruled against Lik Sang International Limited, a worldwide distributor of game copying devices that are capable of counterfeiting Game Boy cartridges.

In the decision, the judge ruled in favor of Nintendo Co. Ltd and Nintendo of America Inc. against Lik Sang and Visoly as well as their principals, Ahlswede Nils and Alexander Peter Kampl. The judge ordered an interim payment of approximately $641,000 be paid to Nintendo and further ordered them to pay Nintendo's legal expenses. The amount of actual damages will be awarded at a later hearing.

The recent judgment comes as a direct result of a civil action Nintendo initiated against Lik Sang International Limited last fall. Nintendo was granted a seizure order on September 17, 2002 by the High Court of Hong Kong. Hong Kong courts have since given Nintendo authority to confiscate all offending products and related business documentation that could lead to further lawsuits against offending manufacturers and distributors. Nintendo obtained an injunction order against the worldwide assets of Lik Sang International Limited including a seizure of its bank accounts. Following the raid, Lik Sang International Limited ceased distribution of the illegal products.

"These devices have been distributed to at least 30 countries around the world. Nintendo will take all steps necessary to stop the manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit Nintendo products," says Jodi Daugherty, director of anti-piracy for Nintendo of America Inc. "Nintendo has the best game developers in the world. They have spent years developing unique and creative games. Their respective efforts deserve to be protected and respected, not stolen."

re: GBA News and Announcements

quote IGN Pocket
June 24, 2003 - Nintendo Europe released a tidbit of information regarding what could possibly be included in the next batch of NES games released on e-Reader cards in the US. On both Nintendo's European website, as well as the Nintendo Official Magazine released in that territory, it has been revealed that Volleyball, Ice Hockey, Soccer, and F-1 are soon to be moved to the e-Reader card format. The e-Reader will ship in Europe on November 7th
So far there have been 13 games released in three series of e-Reader cards, including Balloon Fight, Baseball, Clu Clu Land, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong 3, Excitebike, Golf, Ice Climber, Mario Bros., Pinball, Tennis, and Urban Champion. It's currently unclear if the four new games will be released as a new set, or released across multiple sets with other NES games.

No US or European release date was revealed on these four newly-announced NES games, but we'll keep an eye out for any future announcements regarding these games.

Medal Of Honor Infiltrates the GBA Again
Posted at 12:12 am by Dan
HotGen Studios has partnered with Electronic Arts to deliver Medal of Honor: Infiltrator for the GBA later this year. Players will control Corporal Jake Murphy through five harrowing and famous WWII battles. Gameplay will be primarily from an overhead position with some fixed-positioned first person portions. Mission objectives include sabotage, capture and firefights which will put the Murphy on the ground, in tanks and in disguise. The game will also have a two player link-up mode, along with connectivity with Medal of Honor: Rising Sun on the GameCube, with a real-time map of the console game's levels being displayed on the GBA. Expect screenshots and more information soon.
