am i the only one who thought this?

maria and laura, to characters, each with a part in the story everyone seems to know that maria is a fingmet of james magination, the sexy bad part of mary that james loved, and hes getting punished for it, yeah. but laura, everyone seems to think shes real, that shes a real girl, but i think not, i think shes the part of james that remembers marys good part, that james didnt like, the childish part, the part that makes him want to struggle for his being a bugger, the one in the good ending, when he leaves with laura, that mary wanted james to accept, did anyone else think this before you read this?

re: am i the only one who thought this?

Interesting thought, it would definitely play into the whole spirit of the Silent Hill mythos that the people and the creatures in this world are manifestations of one's own personal demons.
To put another spin on that idea, while Maria is the vamped-up version of Mary, maybe Laura is the child version of Mary?
The part of her that wanted to live, and the part of her that's messing with James in childlike ways in an attempt to show him that what he did was wrong (like startling him with the piano, and locking him in a room, which in a subtle psychological way, shows him what it's like to feel trapped, like Mary felt trapped in her own skin).
Just a thought! XD

SH2's makers dedunked this theory in the official "Book of Lost Memories" that was released.
Laura is a real as real can be.

re: am i the only one who thought this?

Ooh, spooky.
Seriously, though, why no spoiler warning? Not everyone has beaten the game like we have. Such a vague title should probably be followed by "*contains spoilers*", don't you think?

Yeah, that's one possibility... Except for the fact that when James' nightmare is finally over, Laura is still there. All other elements of the journey fade away, but not her. Obviously, Eddy is real, and really, really dead, but they obviously don't include him in the endings (excluding one of them, but that's a very... unusual... case, even for SH). Just because she's a bit of a brat doesn't mean, well, anything. She's a little girl. She's all alone in an unpleasant place (even if she has no idea just how pleasant it really is - like with the movie where she leads James to the room with the hanging things and locks him in, she's obviously not aware of the fact that they are in there, because she can't see them. Common element in the series.), and then a grown man approaches her, and seems to be following her. What's she going to be like? Nice? Sweet? No, she's probably going to be bratty, and that's what she does. Heck, when I was a little boy, I'd have done the same things, in her situation (including scribbling with her finger on the glass door, but probably something like a dog and a sword instead).

I'm not sure what else to say, really.
