Crysis:

If any game on this website requires more than 512mb of video ram the recommended settings fail. I dont have crysis on hand right now, but HG:L had the same results so i'll have to give that a try and see what happens. I'm really hoping that it's at least playable on medium settings. As for Crysis I probably will never end up installing it on here.

Laptop video cards simply turn OFF when not using 3D, and it goes to onboard graphics to save power. It won't affect battery life when not plugged in/not gaming

You may want to do a little research on that, first.

re: GeForce 9500M GS vs. Mobility Radeon HD 3650

Another bit of info. Battery power with everything running full and the monitor at 60% brightness I can get 1 hour of CoD4 on battery over wireless internet.

I thought gaming over a wireless connection would suck big time. Seems like I'm pulling better pings than being hard wired to the modem itself.

Thats how it used to be 3.5 years ago... Havn't looked into it lately. When I was buying mine I looked into that stuff.

Thats pretty good battery for cod4'ing over wireless on a laptop.... I'm actually impressed. if you run 60% with txt docs and web you'll prolly get 3h outta it.

I've heard about a few (one) that was rumored to be able to go from integrated to GPU, but it had to be restarted. I dunno, I'm not up on it. Just know that when I was looking around, I didn't see any like that. So, I got an x1400 with power saving features.

This has to be a really old item then. Even 2003/4 models with added cards simply reduce clock speed and possibly voltage when not running 3D applications. Modern systems simply cut back the power and speed of the GPU when it's not under load in normal desktop use. If an IGP was involved it would show up in something so simple as the device manager.

Oddly enough in the desktop market though, they're working out something around that angle of low usage 3D reverting to an IGP instead.

re: GeForce 9500M GS vs. Mobility Radeon HD 3650

My 17" HP with a 8600 gets about 3.5 hours of battery life on its High Capacity 8 cell battery. I wants too concerned about battery life when I ordered it, as long as it could last at least 2 hours I would be happy with it. But I was surprised when I took it to class the first time and was typing notes on it for about 1 hour and 20 minutes and still had about 65% battery life remaining.

Heres the full specs:

2.2ghz Core 2 Duo
17", 1680x1050 LCD
2x 2gb ram
8600m gs, 512mb memory
2x 120gb, 7200RPM hard drives
Wireless G/N, blue-tooth (turned off during above 'test')

I can probably get about 3 hours and 45 minutes of battery life with blue tooth and wireless turned off, and the back light about 60% brightness. Not really sure what a high capacity 8 cell battery is, but it was $40 more than just a regular 8 cell battery, and I get about an hour more battery life than a friend with a similar laptop (his has an AMD processor and only 1 5400rpm drive).

Objects Quality: High
Shadows Quality Medium
Physics Quality: Very High
Shaders Quality: Medium

Water Quality: Very High
Sound Quality: Very High

System:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 (Penry)@2.5Ghz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: Geforce 9500M GS 512MB
HDD: 250GB
OS: Windows Vista

Frames Per Second(FPS): 15-22FPS with lowest drop at 10FPS.

re: GeForce 9500M GS vs. Mobility Radeon HD 3650

Crysis is not that demanding. My friend played it on Mobility Radeon 1100 which is supposed to be the second worst Radeon there is.

I personally have Radeon X200M and am satisfied with its power. I played games like Command & Conquer 3, MTW2 without a problem (no prob but 10fps ^^). ( its a 3years old laptop )

And i am actually going to buy a laptop with HD3650 soon. I think that it will be a hell'a different power.
