What a joke. Let's pay $700 dollars for a card that can't deliver the quality of graphics it should and not even the best performance on the market just for 512MB's of VRAM. The memory core speed is laughable too. Especially for the price.

Well, if you're rich and want to run Everquest II completely flawlessly at the highest of settings, you need a 512MB video card.

Why pay 700 dollars for a 7800GTX with 512 when you could pay less for a superior X1800? Exactly. There is no reason.

Well you could just get 2 7800gt and put them in SLI to get roughly same/better performance But who wants cards that still have texture shimmering and lowered image quality even after newer drivers

Let's look at the performance tests of these before we make assumptions, on anandtech.com they have some, and I think the 512MB 7800GTX beat the X1800 XL/XT on every test.

And the core speed is quite high, the radeons are higher but these have 24 pipes.

It is a fast card for the price... but the sheer size of the beastly cooler just makes it a eye sore plus you could probably use it as a heat generator when it gets cold in the winter XD
